Synopsis Happily Made by : Veronica Sherman

How did a wide-eyed young woman from Sweden come to live in Australia and end up as 'The Monkey Lady?' Happily Made is a tale that weaves through Sweden to Jerusalem, America to Australia and then unexpectedly to rural Cambodia with four young children in tow. In this honest, vulnerable and at times heart wrenching memoir, Veronica shares her unconventional life with authenticity and bravery. It is the coming of age journey of a naive young woman who at times encountered overwhelming adversity to become both a fierce mamma bear and the playful entrepreneur she is today. Veronica's story is one that needs to be told...it beautifully depicts her unravelling, the lessons she learned and the people who shared her adventure.

Synopsis Polyamory, Monogamy, and American Dreams by : Mimi Schippers

This book introduces "the poly gaze" as a cultural tool to examine how representations of polyamory and poly lives reflect or challenge cultural hegemonies of race, class, gender, and nation. What role does monogamy play in American Identity, the American dream, and U.S. exceptionalism? How do the stories we tell about intimate relationships do cultural and ideological work to maintain and legitimize social inequalities along the lines of race, ethnicity, nation, religion, class, gender and sexuality? How might the introduction of polyamory or consensually non-monogamous relationships in the stories we tell about intimacy confound, disrupt or shift the meaning of what constitutes a good, American life? These are the questions that Mimi Schippers focuses on in this original and engaging study. As she develops the poly gaze, Schippers argues for a sociologically informed and cultivated lens with which anyone, regardless of their experiences with polyamory or consensual non-monogamy, can read culture, media images, and texts against hegemony. This will be a key text for researchers and students in Gender Studies, Queer Studies, Cultural Studies, Critical Race Studies, Media Studies, American Studies and Sociology. This book is accessible and indispensable reading for undergraduate student and postgraduates wanting to gain greater understanding of debates around the key concept of heteronormativity.

Synopsis You Have Ravished My Heart by : Stephanie Schwartz

Is Henry really the one, chosen by God? How can Veronica be sure? All her dreams have been dashed thus far. She only wished to live out a simple life in her Amish community, seeking God, caring for a husband and a family, being part of a loving church. Veronica cannot understand why some folks have all the bad luck. Why are some visited by tragedies while others are not? Does God pull all the strings like a giant puppeteer? Are these things predestined from all eternity? Can she trust Him while not understanding this life she finds herself living? Was having faith meant to be this hard? Will He really wipe away every tear? Upon meeting Veronica, Henry had looked at her then and she looked at him. No words were needed. They both knew. This had been the plan for all Eternity. His plan for them. According to the world, it would seem folly. But to those that have embraced this path less trod, it couldn’t be clearer. Their gaze was interrupted by a tiny voice then. “More…please.” Rosie looked up at both of them and smiled. She seemed to know, too.

Synopsis The City of Refuge by : Juan Rodriguez

After the epic battle with the Shermanites at the end of the previous novel, the Pope Sherman is after them. They have to head out of the country and make it to Australia which is the only safe place. Their first stop is in Britain where they hold a funeral and collect survivors with no memories. Then they head to Spain and collect more survivors and have to face storms made of ash and soot. They soon head to Peru where they meet Shaddrach’s former lover, Michal. She will be the new villain with her secret power of subtle mind-control. They adventure to Africa where they get trapped fighting Bleeders. Dangerous creatures that bleed a cement-like substance and melt in sunlight. After surviving all of this, Veronica is betrayed by Michal, and she ditches them to stay in Korea in a giant castle where she has to overcome impossible obstacles, tests and mazes by using her knowledge of religious history and getting inside of the Pope’s head to uncover clues, which lead her to magical gems that she can use to enhance her powers or help the others. Meanwhile, the rest of the characters settle down in Australia, assuming political roles over this last makeshift excuse for a civilization. The Pope threatens to make his way to Australia to capture Veronica and use her powers to get stronger. Everyone must join together for this epic battle, and their only hope is that they are all left in the dark about the tasks of their friends. The only way this plan works is if everyone is given their assignments in secret whilst being ignorant of the other people’s assignments and missions. If one fails, they all fail and that means Sherman will win.
