This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th IFIP WG 8.1 International Conference on Informatics and Semiotics in Organisations, ICISO 2016, held in Campinas, Brazil, in August 2016. Conducting social research requires an understanding of the general theories and principles of social science research.
