Synopsis Runaway Passion by : Vivian Vaughan
A Texas Rancher’s daughter is on the run and the man sent to bring her home may be her ticket to freedom in this historical western romance. Texas, 1879. Emilie Hahn has tried to escape her father’s Texas ranch before. But this time she has a plan. And not even the handsome rancher sent to pursue her will drag her back without a fight. Even as she resists his attempts to return her to her father, her heart can’t deny the intense desire that draws them together. Creed McCaslin has been hired to rescue Emilie, and he’s not one to leave a job undone. Even when he learns that she’s a runaway—and not the damsel in distress her father has made her out to be—he still pursues the brave and beautiful young woman. But his mission never included falling in love with his quarry. Once Creed catches up to Emilie, will he return her to the ranch, or will they ride off together? “A wonderful adventure and a sensitive romance.” —RT Book Reviews

Synopsis Passion Is the Gale by : Nicole Eustace
At the outset of the eighteenth century, many British Americans accepted the notion that virtuous sociable feelings occurred primarily among the genteel, while sinful and selfish passions remained the reflexive emotions of the masses, from lower-class whites to Indians to enslaved Africans. Yet by 1776 radicals would propose a new universal model of human nature that attributed the same feelings and passions to all humankind and made common emotions the basis of natural rights. In Passion Is the Gale, Nicole Eustace describes the promise and the problems of this crucial social and political transition by charting changes in emotional expression among countless ordinary men and women of British America. From Pennsylvania newspapers, pamphlets, sermons, correspondence, commonplace books, and literary texts, Eustace identifies the explicit vocabulary of emotion as a medium of human exchange. Alternating between explorations of particular emotions in daily social interactions and assessments of emotional rhetoric's functions in specific moments of historical crisis (from the Seven Years War to the rise of the patriot movement), she makes a convincing case for the pivotal role of emotion in reshaping power relations and reordering society in the critical decades leading up to the Revolution. As Eustace demonstrates, passion was the gale that impelled Anglo-Americans forward to declare their independence--collectively at first, and then, finally, as individuals.

Synopsis Passion's Prize by : Kitchie
Set against the anarchy of the Civil War, this novel tells the story of the raven-haired beauty Lynora Hollingsworth, daughter of a wealthy plantation owner, an aspiring young artist who spends one wild, enchanting evening in the arms of a stranger, but plans to spend the rest of her life in a marriage that has the approval of her family. However, when her fianc rapes her, she decides to strike out on her own rather than subject herself or the child she has discovered she is carrying to this mans cruelty. Rene Michael DuClaire, gambler and notorious rake, to whom she flees for asylum, is also the handsome stranger to whom she has given her heart. When he surmises her condition and realizes he is the father, he marries her against her will. It is a stormy relationship exacerbated by the onslaught of the Civil War, a conflict over which all characters must make some tough decisions regarding their own comfort and their consciences. There are various subplots in the story. One of them deals with the rejected suitors espionage for the Union army, and reveals his sinister nature in his desire for revenge. Another has to do with an Underground Railroad system in Louisiana, and a third deals with the drama of the Civil War itself on the people it touched in the swampy city of New Orleans and surrounding area. The scenes that relate to the war have been researched and are essentially factual, including the shipyard strike, all battle scenes, and even the explosion of the powder plant in Gretna. The captains, majors, and generals were all real people involved in the war at the places described. Only the lieutenants and privates are fictional.

Synopsis Blood Passion by : Scott Martelle
"On April 20, 1914, in the small railroad town of Ludlow, Colorado, striking coalminers and state National Guardsmen waged a day-long battle that ended with the burning of a strikers' tent colony. The "Ludlow Massacre," as it is known, was only part of a seven-month war in which at least seventy-five people were killed. In Blood Passion, journalist Scott Martelle explores this largely forgotten American saga of coalminers rising against political and economic corruption, a fight that embraced some of the most volatile social movements of the early twentieth century."--Cover.
