Synopsis Pediatric Neuropathology by : Dawna Armstrong

At last, a much-needed route map to pediatric neuropathology. Up to now a comprehensive volume covering of pediatric neuropathology simply did not exist. This atlas is thus a unique, all-encompassing reference providing material on the fundamentals of brain disorders of the nervous system that can affect fetuses, infants and young children, as well as the essentials of diagnosis in developmental brain pathology and neuroimaging. Emphasising the characteristic morphology and a concise summary of clinical features, pathogenesis, and genetics, the generously illustrated atlas presents more than 100 disorders. This compilation is a valuable resource for pathologists, pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons, geneticists, neonatologists, radiologists, and pediatricians.

Synopsis Developmental Neuropathology by : Reinhard L. Friede

I was gratified by the most favorable reception and wide usage received by the first edition of this book. A decade seems to be a short period for a book on pathology, and yet it witnessed many important changes of concepts, along with a formidable growth of knowledge. The second edition required extensive reorganization. There are new chapters on mitochondriopathies, on peroxisomal diseases and on spongy myelino pathies. Major revisions and new additions were necessary in many chapters, for instance those on the dysplasias of the cerebral and of the cerebellar hemispheres, which were largely reorganized. The chapters on perinatal pathology were reordered and reorganized to give a more logical sequence of prenatal, perinatal and postnatal lesions. The entire text was worked over for brevity. A wealth of new references was added with the. aim of staying abreast with the literature up to summer 1988. All refer ences were double checked for errors. My gratitude goes to Mrs. Gisela Ropte and Mrs. Cynthia Bunker for their untiring, diligent help. As a result, this second edition is an essentially rewritten text. Advance in the prevention of human suffering is based on a thorough understand ing of the nature of disease. I hope that this text will continue to be of service in this behalf. Perhaps it may also reflect and foster the intellectual curiosity which makes the "reading of brains" so interesting an occupation. Gottingen, 1989 Reinhard L.

This sixth edition provides an overview of fetal and neonatal pathology through a system-based approach. This book contains new chapters on immunology, with a continued focus on molecular aspects of pathology in the perinatal setting. The general principles of perinatal pathology and their clinical situations are also discussed, along with specific pathological entities and their organ systems. Keeling’s Fetal and Neonatal Pathology, sixth edition aims to help the reader treat common problems through anatomical pathology findings and is relevant to practicing and trainee pathologists, obstetricians, maternal and fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists, and pediatricians.

Synopsis Perinatal Neurology and Neurosurgery by : R.A. Thompson

This volume represents a collection of topics presented at the Tenth Annual Symposium of the Barrow Neurological Institute. No attempt is made to be comprehensive but rather an attempt is made to give adequate attention to the major important topics in this field. Neuro developmental biology, pathophysiology, and laboratory evaluation are discussed. Subjects include hypoxic ischemia, intraventricular hemorrhage, fetal neurosurgery, surgery of hydrocephalus, problems of apnea, ultrasound and CT imaging techniques, electrodiagnosis and ethical and economic issues. This volume will be of interest to neurologists and neurosurgeons in general, and especially to pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons, and perinatologists. Richard A. Thompson, M.D. John R. Synopsis Perinatal Neuroradiology by : Fabio Triulzi

The novel aim of this book is to illustrate the MR imaging features of the fetal and the neonatal brain by matching prenatal and postnatal images for a wide range of neurological abnormalities. The focus is on both conventional and advanced MR imaging techniques, including high-resolution MR autopsy of the fetal brain. During the past ten years, neuroradiological evaluation of the neonatal and the prenatal brain has advanced tremendously. However, even though they are intrinsically related, these two critical stages in brain development are usually studied and presented separately. In order to have a sound understanding of neonatal brain diseases, detailed knowledge of prenatal brain pathology is immensely helpful; conversely, knowledge of neonatal brain disease is a prerequisite for understanding many fetal brain lesions. Written by experts in the field, Perinatal Neuroradiology will be of value for neuroradiologists and pediatric radiologists, as well as obstetricians and neonatologists.

Synopsis Fetal and Neonatal Pathology by : Jean W. Keeling

The fourth edition of the classic reference in the field of fetal and neonatal pathology, this revised and updated book retains the overall format of previous editions, presenting the same practical approach to the examination of both fetuses and perinatal deaths. It provides essential clinical and pathophysiological information and discusses the pathogenesis of abnormalities as a basis for appropriate methods of investigation. While primarily addressing the morbid anatomist and histopathologist, it is also a valuable resource for obstetricians, neonatologists and paediatricians.
