Nursing informatics has a long history of focusing on information management and nurses have a long history of describing their computer use. However, based on the technical advances and through the ongoing and consistent changes in healthcare today, we are now challenged to look to the future and help determine what nurses and patients/consumers will need going forward. This book presents the proceedings of the Post Conference to the 13th International Conference on Nursing Informatics, held in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2016. The theme of the Post Conference is Forecasting Informatics Competencies for Nurses in the Future of Connected Health. This book presents the status quo of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education, with a focus on China and the 17 Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs), including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia (the “17+1” cooperation mechanism, as an incubator for pragmatic trans-regions cooperation platform, created by China and the 17 CEECs). With recent advances in ICT in China and the CEECs, it has assumed increasingly important roles in education, including the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the promotion of equity in education. The significant contribution of ICT in education is an enabler to achieving the goals of the “17+1 cooperation” mechanism between China and the CEECs, which has attracted considerable attention worldwide, given fresh impetus to cooperation between the two parties, and opened a new chapter in China-CEEC cooperation. The contributors, all of whom hail from these 18 countries, describe the state-of-the-art of ICT in education in their respective country, and focus on three major aspects, namely: the country profile, general status of education development, and ICT in education. In turn, leading experts in educational informatization research compare the situations in different countries. Taken together, the papers offer valuable insights for policymakers and educators on how to integrate ICT into educational processes, and on inter-regional cooperation with regard to ICT in education.

It is a pleasure to offer you this book containing papers about ICT and education from the World Computer Congress 2006 (WCC 2006), held in Santiago, Chile and sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). A lot of people worked very hard to make this event happen and to produce this book. The programme committee with IFIP members from around the world issued a call for papers inspiring almost 80 people to submit papers, posters, demonstrations, and workshops to the IFIP TC3 (Technical Committee on Education) sub-conference of WCC 2006. The submitted papers were reviewed by a large group of referees to select the papers to be presented at the conference. What is really amazing is that all these people freely contributed their time and effort to do all this work. The TC3 sub-conference of WCC 2006 has two themes: Informatics Curricula, TEaching Methods and best practice (ICTEM II), and Teaching and Learning with ICT: Theory, Policy and Practice. These themes represent many of the broad range of interests of the Working Groups of IFIP TC3. Two kinds of papers are included in this book: full papers and short papers. Full papers are standard papers that are appropriate for an international conference on ICT and informatics education. Of the 64 full paper submissions, 28 (44%) were accepted. A short paper represents work in progress, opinion, a proposal, work with untested results, or an experience report.

This book presents the 65 full papers presented at the 13th annual International Conference on Informatics, Management, and Technology in Healthcare (ICIMTH 2015), held in Athens, Greece, in July 2015. The conference attracts scientists and practitioners from all continents and treats the field of biomedical informatics in a very broad framework, examining the research and applications outcomes of informatics from cell to population, and covering a number of technologies such as imaging, sensors and biomedical equipment as well as management and organizational subjects such as legal and social issues. The conference also aims to set research priorities in health informatics. Children in the Information Age: Opportunities for Creativity, Innovation and New Activities contains selected papers from the Second International Conference and Exhibition ""Children in the Information Age: Opportunities for Creativity, Innovation and New Activities,"" held in Sofia, Bulgaria, 19-23 May 1987. The contributions made by researchers at the conference covered topics such as the past, present, and future of school informatics in the USSR; the family computer boom and its implications for computer literacy; the new meanings of literacy related to new information and communication technologies; computer use in education; and literacy in the information age. Other papers dealt with computer-based training in India; knowledge based systems for use in pedagogical contexts; informatics competitions in Germany; the information age; information and communication technology in the French educational system; and the role of information technology in education in Australia. The final two chapters present the recommendations that emerged from the conference as well as the recommendations of the Working Meeting of Editors of Journals and Magazines on Informatics in Education.

From 3rd to 5th March 2008 the International Association of Technology, Education and Development organised its International Technology, Education and Development Conference in Valencia, Spain. Over a hundred papers were presented by participants from a great variety of countries. Summarising, this book provides a kaleidoscopic view of work that is done, all over the world in (higher) education, characterised by the key words ‘Education” and ‘Development’.
