Synopsis Analysis I by : Terence Tao

This is part one of a two-volume book on real analysis and is intended for senior undergraduate students of mathematics who have already been exposed to calculus. The emphasis is on rigour and foundations of analysis. Beginning with the construction of the number systems and set theory, the book discusses the basics of analysis (limits, series, continuity, differentiation, Riemann integration), through to power series, several variable calculus and Fourier analysis, and then finally the Lebesgue integral. These are almost entirely set in the concrete setting of the real line and Euclidean spaces, although there is some material on abstract metric and topological spaces. The book also has appendices on mathematical logic and the decimal system. The entire text (omitting some less central topics) can be taught in two quarters of 25–30 lectures each. The course material is deeply intertwined with the exercises, as it is intended that the student actively learn the material (and practice thinking and writing rigorously) by proving several of the key results in the theory.

Synopsis Circuit Analysis I by : Steven T. Karris

This text is an introduction to the basic principles of electrical engineering and covers DC and AC circuit analysis and Transients. It is intended for all engineering majors and presumes knowledge of first year differential and integral calculus and physics. The last two chapters include step-by-step procedures for the solutions of simple differential equations used in the derivation of the natural and forces responses. Appendices A, B, and C are introductions to MATLAB, Simulink, and SimPowerSystems respectively. Appendix D is a review of Complex Numbers, and Appendix E is an introduction to matrices and determinants.

Synopsis Mathematical Analysis I by : Claudio Canuto

The purpose of the volume is to provide a support for a first course in Mathematics. The contents are organised to appeal especially to Engineering, Physics and Computer Science students, all areas in which mathematical tools play a crucial role. Basic notions and methods of differential and integral calculus for functions of one real variable are presented in a manner that elicits critical reading and prompts a hands-on approach to concrete applications. The layout has a specifically-designed modular nature, allowing the instructor to make flexible didactical choices when planning an introductory lecture course. The book may in fact be employed at three levels of depth. At the elementary level the student is supposed to grasp the very essential ideas and familiarise with the corresponding key techniques. Proofs to the main results befit the intermediate level, together with several remarks and complementary notes enhancing the treatise. The last, and farthest-reaching, level requires the additional study of the material contained in the appendices, which enable the strongly motivated reader to explore further into the subject. Definitions and properties are furnished with substantial examples to stimulate the learning process. Over 350 solved exercises complete the text, at least half of which guide the reader to the solution. This new edition features additional material with the aim of matching the widest range of educational choices for a first course of Mathematics.

Synopsis Basic Analysis I by : James K. Peterson

Basic Analysis I: Functions of a Real Variable is designed for students who have completed the usual calculus and ordinary differential equation sequence and a basic course in linear algebra. This is a critical course in the use of abstraction, but is just first volume in a sequence of courses which prepare students to become practicing scientists. This book is written with the aim of balancing the theory and abstraction with clear explanations and arguments, so that students who are from a variety of different areas can follow this text and use it profitably for self-study. It can also be used as a supplementary text for anyone whose work requires that they begin to assimilate more abstract mathematical concepts as part of their professional growth. Features Can be used as a traditional textbook as well as for self-study Suitable for undergraduate mathematics students, or for those in other disciplines requiring a solid grounding in abstraction Emphasises learning how to understand the consequences of assumptions using a variety of tools to provide the proofs of propositions

Synopsis Analysis I by : Terence Tao

This is the first book of a two-volume textbook on real analysis. Both the volumes—Analysis I and Analysis II—are intended for honors undergraduates who have already been exposed to calculus. The emphasis is on rigor and foundations. The material starts at the very beginning—the construction of number systems and set theory (Analysis I, Chaps. 1–5), then on to the basics of analysis such as limits, series, continuity, differentiation, and Riemann integration (Analysis I, Chaps. 6–11 on Euclidean spaces, and Analysis II, Chaps. 1–3 on metric spaces), through power series, several variable calculus, and Fourier analysis (Analysis II, Chaps. 4–6), and finally to the Lebesgue integral (Analysis II, Chaps. 7–8). There are appendices on mathematical logic and the decimal system. The entire text (omitting some less central topics) is in two quarters of twenty-five to thirty lectures each.

Synopsis Analysis I by : Herbert Amann

"This textbook provides an outstanding introduction to analysis. It is distinguished by its high level of presentation and its focus on the essential.'' (Zeitschrift für Analysis und ihre Anwendung 18, No. 4 - G. Berger, review of the first German edition) "One advantage of this presentation is that the power of the abstract concepts are convincingly demonstrated using concrete applications.'' (W. Grölz, review of the first German edition)

Synopsis Kvant Selecta: Algebra and Analysis, I by : Serge Tabachnikov

This volume contains translated articles originally published from 1970 to 1990 in the Russian journal "Kvant." The influence of this magazine on mathematics and physics education in Russia is unmatched. This volume initiates a collection that represents the Russian tradition of expository mathematical writing at its best. Written by leading Russian mathematicians and expositors, these articles present mathematics in a conceptual, entertaining, and accessible way. This volume is designed for students and teachers who love mathematics, and can expand on local school curriculum subjects. This first volume addresses various topics in number theory.

Synopsis Feminist Critical Policy Analysis I by : Catherine Marshall

This text sets out to challenge the traditional power basis of the policy decision makers in education. It contests that others who have an equal right to be consulted and have their opinions known have been silenced, declared irrelevant, postponed and otherwise ignored. Policies have thus been formed and implemented without even a cursory feminist critical glance. The chapters in this text illustrate how to incorporate critical and feminist lenses and thus create policies to meet the lived realities, the needs, aspirations and values of women and girls. A particular focus is the primary and secondary sectors of education.

Synopsis Advanced Courses of Mathematical Analysis I by : A. Aizpuru-Tom s

This volume consists of a collection of articles from experts with a rich research and educational experience. The contributors of this volume are: Y Benyamini, M Gonz lez, V Mller, S Reich, E Matouskova, A J Zaslavski and A R Palacios. Each of their work is invaluable. For example, Benyamini's is the only updated survey of the exciting and active area of the classification of Banach spaces under uniformly continuous maps while Gonz lez's article is a pioneer introduction to the theory of local duality for Banach spaces.
