Synopsis Words of Destiny by : Caterina Guenzi
Astrologers play an important role in Indian society, but there are very few studies on their social identity and professional practices. Based on extensive fieldwork carried out in the city of Banaras, Words of Destiny shows how the Brahmanical scholarly tradition of astral sciences (jyotiḥśāstra) described in Sanskrit literature and taught at universities has been adapted and reformulated to meet the needs and questions of educated middle and upper classes in urban India: How to get a career promotion? How to choose the most suitable field of study for children? When is the best moment to move into a new house? The study of astrology challenges ready-made assumptions about the boundaries between "science" and "superstition," "rationality" and "magic." Rather than judging the validity of astrology as a knowledge system, Caterina Guenzi explores astrological counseling as a social practice and how it "works from within" for both astrologers and their clients. She examines the points of view of those who use astrology either as a way of earning their living or as a means through which to solve problems and make decisions, concluding that, because astrology combines mathematical calculations and astronomical observations with ritual practices, it provides educated urban families with an idiom through which modern science and devotional Hinduism can be subsumed.

Synopsis Thinking And Destiny by : Harold W. Percival
In Thinking and Destiny, something new, although older than time, is now made known to the world--about Consciousness. The information is largely about the makeup of the human, where man comes from, what becomes of him; it explains what thinking is; it tells how a thought is created, and how thoughts are exteriorized into acts, objects and events, and how they make his destiny. Destiny is thus shown to be self-determined by thinking; and the process of re-existence and the after-death states are told in detail. A single reading of any one chapter of Thinking and Destiny brings rich rewards in new understanding of life`s puzzling mysteries. To read the entire book is to come nearer to knowledge of one`s destiny and how to shape it than is possible through study of anything previously written in the English language. Both the casually curious glancer at books and the most avid seeker for knowledge will be intrigued by the index, which lists more than 400 subjects in Thinking and Destiny, and by the fifteen chapter headings in the Table of Contents, which identify the 156 sections. The Foreword contains the only pages in which Mr. Percival uses the first personal pronoun. Here he relates some of the amazing experiences through which he was able to grasp the knowledge he transmits, and to acquire the ability to do so.

Synopsis The Spear of Destiny by : Trevor Ravenscroft
This occult classic reveals the supernatural roots of Nazism and the power Hitler gained access to by acquiring a legendary holy relic. Get the astounding history behind the Spear of Longinus mentioned in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny! Ever since it pierced the side of Christ more than 2,000 years ago, it has been said that the Spear of Destiny has been invested with amazing occult powers. In this book, Trevor Ravenscroft records its legend and involvement in the decline of the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages, and the twentieth century. He tells the story of the chain of men who possessed the Spear, from Herod the Great to Adolf Hitler, and how they sought to change the face of history by wielding its powers for good or evil. The Spear of Destiny is identified as the Spear of the Holy Grail mentioned in the sagas of the Dark Ages. It is believed the holder of the Spear possesses the power of mind expansion—as applicable today as it was at the courts of King Arthur and Charlemagne. The final chapters of this book describe a Manichean battle of the worlds behind the changing scene of the twentieth century. For the first time, the Satanic occult development and faculties of Adolf Hitler are described in authentic and documented detail, showing how he furthered his aims and his conquest of the world by black magic.

Synopsis The Hand of Destiny by : Srividya Srinivasan
Rajalakshmi Meenakshisundaram, a traditional, god-fearing wife and mother, has led a sheltered life in India. Her happy world in Chennai is shattered when her only child, Venkat, dies on his birthday, the victim of a terrorist attack in France. She must now travel to Paris with her husband to claim Venkat’s body. Katherine Mary Flannigan, a mother of three, is a loving wife and staunch church goer. The Irish Flannigans have lived in the little town of Blue Hampton, outside London, for generations. Jonas, her eldest son has been missing for a week when she learns that he has blown himself to bits in France, having secretly converted to Islam just a year before. The village is split on accepting his body for burial in the church cemetery. Katherine and her husband James must now travel to France to claim Jonas’ body. What happens when the two women meet? How do the men in their lives battle their own vulnerabilities and inabilities as they come to terms with their loss? How do those around them deal with the tragedy? This is the gripping and poignant tale of going past the biases we all carry, the assumptions we make, and the guilt within when we have failed those we love. What links us? What separates us? What is identity after all? What remains of faith when it is put to test? What is destiny? Is there hope at the end of the maelstrom?

By sensitizing us to subtleties of speech we may never have considered before, he shows us how to turn every exchange into an opportunity.
