Synopsis Winterman by : Alex Walters
In this post-WWII crime thriller, a detective searches for a serial killer who’s made a hunting ground of the English Fenlands. Det. Inspector Ivan Winterman has had more than his share of troubles. The Blitz left his young son dead and his wife seriously injured. Having made enemies in high places, his career is going nowhere. Now he’s back in his coastal hometown of East Anglia, England—a part of the country gripped by post-war austerity and the coldest winter on record—hoping to rebuild his life. As the first snow begins to fall, a drunken ex-clergyman stumbles on the semi-mummified body of a small child concealed in a ruined cottage. Days later, another child's body is found in a Fenland dyke. Both bodies have been dead for years, preserved in the Fens, the cause of death unknown. Leading the investigation, Winterman uncovers a web of secrets in the small rural community—secrets that are darker and more dangerous than any he'd ever envisaged.

Synopsis Aiming at Heaven, Getting the Earth by : Marian E. Crowe
"Although many literary critics assert that the Catholic novel is in decline, Aiming at Heaven, Getting the Earth: The English Catholic Novel Today argues that there is still vitality in the English Catholic novel at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Marian Crowe relates this fiction to recent developments in the post-Vatican II Church and elucidates intriguing possibilities for future Catholic fiction. In addition to discussing the theory and history of the Catholic novel, the book provides an in-depth study of four contemporary English Catholic novelists."--BOOK JACKET.

Synopsis Deadly Daylight Hauntings by : Ronald Bullock
In the lounge of the Lincolnshire Aviator pub, situated deep in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds in England, just over a mile and a half down the road from the old air base, some locals were in deep conversation about the expected arrival from London of an American couple. The couple were expected to arrive that very evening, and due to an unfortunate overheard remark by the landlord of the pub, Jack Hastings, to his wife, Jean, gossiping and speculation were now rife in the lounge and public bars about the reason for the Americans visit. Jack had been talking casually about the reasons for the couples visit to Jean, saying the couple was more than just a little bit interested in the old air base down the road and that a relative of theirs flew from the base with The Pathfinders during the Second World War. That chat between Jack and Jean Hastings, overheard by one of the locals, led to gossip amongst the regulars and the speculation that the Americans were CIA agents after some dark secret. In fact, the truth was far more terrifying than the speculation in the pub. A few days later four other visitors arrived at the pub. They were the newly formed Paranormal Investigation Project, and under their investigation the horrifying truth began to emerge.
