Synopsis Born with Wings by : Daisy Khan
The dramatic, spiritual memoir of a prominent Muslim woman working to empower women and girls across the world—for readers of Malala Yousafzai and Azar Nafisi. Raised in a progressive Muslim family in the shadows of the Himalayan mountains, where she attended a Catholic girls’ school, Daisy experienced culture shock when her family sent her to the States to attend high school in a mostly Jewish Long Island suburb. Ambitious and talented, she quickly climbed the corporate ladder after college as an architectural designer in New York City. Though she loved the freedom that came with being a career woman, she felt that something was missing from her life. One day a friend suggested that she visit a Sufi mosque in Tribeca. To her surprise, she discovered a home there, eventually marrying the mosque’s imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf, and finding herself, as his wife, at the center of a community in which women turned to her for advice. Guided by her faith, she embraced her role as a women’s advocate and has devised innovative ways to help end child marriage, fight against genital mutilation, and, most recently, educate young Muslims to resist the false promises of ISIS recruiters. Born with Wings is a powerful, moving, and eye-opening account of Daisy Khan’s inspiring journey—of her self-actualization and her success in opening doors for other Muslim women and building bridges between cultures. It powerfully demonstrates what one woman can do—with faith, love, and resilience. Praise for Born with Wings “A heartfelt, deeply personal, and touching account of a Muslim woman’s spiritual journey and her work to empower women and girls around the globe.”—Her Majesty Queen Noor “Daisy Khan is one of the most prominent Muslim voices in America and an icon of female empowerment across the globe. This beautiful story of her spiritual journey is an inspiration to anyone who seeks to change the world.”—Reza Aslan, author of No god but God and Zealot “At a time when news headlines cast Muslim societies as war-torn or rigidly traditional, Daisy Khan offers a subtler, and ultimately more optimistic, vision. Through her own story, and the stories of other change-makers, Khan reminds us how Muslim women are asserting their rights while holding fast to their faith.”—Carla Power, author of If the Oceans Were Ink “A lyrical, poignant, emboldening, and, most of all, deeply important book.”—Bruce Feiler, author of Abraham and Walking the Bible

Synopsis On Two Wings by : Michael Novak
The leaders of the American Revolution, unlike the leaders of the French revolution, did not set out to erase religion. Indeed, the very first act of the Continental Congress was to pray to Divine Providence in the face of the British bombardment of Boston. In establishing a new model of self-government, the Founders believed that they were not only acting according to reason and common sense, but also obeying a religious duty. Benjamin Franklin proposed as their motto: “Rebellion against tyrants is obedience to God.” In telling the story of the forgotten—if not deliberately ignored—role of faith in America’s beginnings, Michael Novak probes the innermost religious conviction of Washington, Jefferson, Madison and other of our Founders. He shows that while the American eagle could not have taken flight without the empirical turn of mind embodied in John Locke’s teaching on the ends of government and the consent of the governed, the men who made America also believed that liberty depends as much on faith as on reason. In the course of his illustrious career, Michael Novak has written several prize-winning books on theology and philosophy. In On Two Wings he has created a profound mediation on American history, and on human nature and destiny as well.

Synopsis The Wings of Faith by : Lois Egowunma Usonwu
The background to the Wings of Faith was introduced with a divine call through a dream in which the Lord mandated the writer to effectively share her faith in writing with testimonies of the several wonderful things the Lord has done in her life in response to her faith in Jesus Christ and her prayers and cries to God for help in every areas of her challenges from which she has found relevance and purpose in life, as referenced in Philemon 1:6"That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus." The Wings of Faith is a catalogue of testimonies of my faith, testifying that since I gave my life to Christ through faith in the name of Jesus as the Son of God and as my Lord and personal Savior through confession and repentance and forsaking of my sins and baptism by immersion, daily reading, and studying of the Bible and prayer and fellowship with the brethren and faith in the word of God, which I communicate to God through prayer by the help of the Holy Spirit, my life has never been the same again. The Word of God that I pray with bears fruit, which results to testimonies. As a widow, God has shown me his faithfulness as the husband of the widow and as the father of the fatherless to my children. He has pleaded my case against opposition, defended the cause of my children, did not leave us as orphans but revealed things to come so as to warn us, relieved us of burdens, provided for us, healed us, intervened in very difficult situations and made ways of escape for us, helped us and sent helpers to us, raised us up from the dust, lifted us up from the ash heap, brought us out of darkness, and translated us into his marvelous light that we should show forth his praises. This is the praise of God, the testimony of Jesus, that he called us to bear fruits of testimony to bring glory to his name and encourage people who hear our testimonies to have faith in God by believing in the name of Jesus Christ, his Son, so that Jesus Christ in turn will draw them to the Father, who is pleased to give us the kingdom, that through faith in the name of Jesus, we might reign with him in his kingdom and live eternally to the glory of God.

Synopsis Wings of Faith by : Josephine Cunnington Edwards
"Listen, Em, I'll tell you a secret. I believe we are really going to make a machine that flies. You'll see," said Orville. And Orville was right! Together he and his brother made America's very first flying machine. But Emerson Chadwick had his own problems. His foremost concern was to make enough money so that he could get away from his cousin Lem. Just when his little tin box was almost full enough to suit him, the money mysteriously disappeared. But Em wasn't licked yet! Money or no money, he was going to make it on his own, and that's exactly what he did. He went a long way before he learned that there was an easier way to fly than flying machines. Emerson Chadwick made his own flight—on "Wings of Faith."
