Synopsis William Shakespeare (Classic Reprint) by : John Masefield

Excerpt from William Shakespeare Worldly Empire has always been gluttonous and foolish. It has always been a monstrous sentimental bubble blown out of something dead that was once grand. Man's true empire is not in continents nor over the sea, but within himself, in his own soul. Here in London, where a worldly empire is con trolled, there exists no theatre in which the millions can see that other empire. They pass from one grey street to another grey street, to add up figures, or to swallow patent medicines, with no thought that life has been lived nobly, and burningly and knightly, for great ends, and in great passions, as the vision of our great mind declares. Synopsis A Life of William Shakespeare (Classic Reprint) by : William James Rolfe

Excerpt from A Life of William Shakespeare The manuscript of this Life was finished, except for the Notes, in May, 1901, and from the beginning of June to the middle of September was kept in a Safety Vault at Cambridge. In October it mysteriously disappeared from my library. Though I had little doubt by whom it was taken, the evidence was purely circumstantial; and for that and other reasons it was impossible for me to make any effort to regain possession of it. The person who took it intended, after reading it, to return it without betraying himself, but he was afterwards tempted to put it into other hands with a false statement of its history, possibly with a view to its being utilized, in part if not as a whole, in print. This can hardly be done with safety, but it has complicated the affair and interfered with the return of the manuscript in time for it to go to press as promised. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Synopsis A Handbook to the Works of William Shakespeare (Classic Reprint) by : Morton Luce

Excerpt from A Handbook to the Works of William Shakespeare His Handbook to Shakespeare offers in one volume the critical and explanatory helps that must otherwise be sought from many books. As far as possible, it embodies all recent research and, like the author's Handbook to Tennyson, aims at illustrating principles while it supplies information. References are made to the Globe Edition of Shake speare's works; and for the duration of dramatic action I am indebted to Mr. Daniel's time analysis of the plays. As on former occasions, my best thanks are due to Mr. W. J. Lias, late Scholar of Jesus College, Cambridge, for his kindness in revising the proofs; I have also to thank the Rev. Tabor Davies, m.a., for similar help, and for compiling the Index. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Synopsis Wit, Wisdom, and Beauties of Shakespeare (Classic Reprint) by : Clarence Stuart Ward

Excerpt from Wit, Wisdom, and Beauties of Shakespeare N o selections have been taken from several plays often found in editions of Shakespeare, as in the light of the best authorities his connec tion with them is deemed highly improbable, nor have any passages been found in either of his two long poems which seem to have a separate value apart from their context. The text has been made to conform to the Riverside edition of Shakespeare, where there is any difference in the readings of various edi tions.
