William Moseley (d.1655) emigrated from England to The Netherlands as a merchant, and in 1649 immigrated to Lower Norfolk County, Virginia. Descendants listed lived in the coastal states between Virginia and and Texas, and elsewhere. Includes ancestry and family history in England to 1086 A.D.

This is the second volume of a five-volume work consisting of Virginia genealogies from the "Virginia Magazine of History and Biography," a notable periodical that contained a large number of genealogies that will be of help to the researcher. This volume consists of articles about the following main families in the alphabetical sequence Claiborne-Fitzhugh: Claiborne, Clay, Clement (Clements, Clemans), Clifton, Cocke (Cox), Coleman, Coles, Combs, Corbin (with Grosvenor, Pudsey), Corker-Robinson-Moseley-Cockroft, Crockett, Culpeper, Cunningham, Custis, Dabney, Dade, Day, Duke-Moss, Eldridge, Ellyson, Emperour, Eppes, Eskridge, Eubans, Farrar, Ferrar-Collett, Fielding & Davis, and Fitzhugh.

Henry Watkins (b.ca. 1638), a Quaker and possibly emigrated from England as an indentured servant, was in Henrico County, Virginia during or before 1664. By about 1675, Henry and his family owned a small farm in Henrico County, where he died after 1715. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kentucky and elsewhere.

The second volume of the set (see Item 531) covers more families from the early counties of Virginia's Lower Tidewater and Southside regions. With an index in excess of 10,000 names.

This volume includes 295 family names with detailed descriptions of their family arms, often their family crest and sometimes their family motto. Entries also include the county (in Virginia) associated with the family, the name of their immigrant ancesto

Princess Anne County is now part of the independent city of Virginia Beach. Most of Norfolk County is in the independent city of Chesapeake, although some parts are in the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk.
