Jims passion has been Bible teaching. He has concentrated on Survey reading in order to help ordinary men and women gain a better understanding of the Scriptures. He has assisted Phyllida in presenting her course, Hearing from God in various places in RSA. This was done to help ordinary Christian men and women become more confident in hearing God for themselves rather than through others. For the past 32 years, Jim has been a prophetic poet, taking Gods Word to others in verse and rhyme. He is largely self-taught, but attended Evening Bible School in Randburg in 1982. Jim and Phyllida are qualified as Local Preachers in the Methodist Church. They are also ordained ministers in World Christian Network. Jims ministry has been influenced by such men as Dr A W Tozer, Paris Riedhead, Gene Edwards, Derek Prins, Malcolm Smith and in particular David Pawson.

Synopsis Philip Larkin Poems by : Philip Larkin

For the first time, Faber publish a selection from the poetry of Philip Larkin. Drawing on Larkin's four collections and on his uncollected poems. Chosen by Martin Amis. 'Many poets make us smile; how many poets make us laugh - or, in that curious phrase, "laugh out loud" (as if there's another way of doing it)? Who else uses an essentially conversational idiom to achieve such a variety of emotional effects? Who else takes us, and takes us so often, from sunlit levity to mellifluous gloom?... Larkin, often, is more than memorable: he is instantly unforgettable.' - Martin Amis

Synopsis “Quiet Spiders of the Hidden Soul” by : Mykola Bazhan

This bilingual Ukrainian-English collection brings together the most interesting experimental works by Mykola (Nik) Bazhan, one of the major Ukrainian poets of the twentieth century. As he moved from futurism to neoclassicism, symbolism to socialist realism, Bazhan consistently displayed a creative approach to theme, versification, and vocabulary. Many poems from his three remarkable early collections (1926, 1927, and 1929) remain unknown to readers, both in Ukraine and the West. Because Bazhan was later forced into the straitjacket of officially sanctioned socialist realism, his early poetry has been neglected. This collection makes these outstanding works available for the first time.

Synopsis Psalm 29 through Time and Tradition by : Lowell K Handy

Psalm 29, a sacred text in Jewish and Christian Bibles, has been understood in a variety of ways through time and in different traditions. This volume presents a sample of the use and meaning derived from a single biblical text. From the earliest translations to contemporary African Independent Churches, this psalm has been an integral part of synagogue and church; but what it has meant and how it is used is a fascinating journey through human culture. Not only the understanding of the written word, but also the liturgical use and the musical adaptations of a biblical text are considered here. This is a book for anyone - scholar, student, or laity - with an interest in the Bible in its many contexts.
