William Maddy (d.1755) emigrated from England to Fairfax County, Virginia, and was probably a relative (possibly a father) of James Maddy I (fl. 1759-1783), who was also an English immigrant. James Maddy I married Ann Morris about 1759, and served in the Revolution- ary War. They later moved to Orange County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Oregon, California, Arizona and elsewhere.
