It was the way her heart responded to the proud face and chiseled body of Vikar Hrutson, jaarl, leader of the invading force—and Sela's ex-husband!

General Harold Moore (USA, Ret.) said it's the “absolute best book on military leadership in peace and war.” This book is for military leaders who want to inspire their teams to achieve their best in combat and peacetime. This wide-ranging anthology brings together noted military minds as they examine the crucial role of leadership in combat, relate the lessons learned, and apply the principles to the stressful world of business. The book covers classic and modern concepts of leadership and uses case studies from Alexander the Great through post-9/11 wars to illustrate the principles of leadership in concrete historical contexts. The most important, most penetrating analysis of military leadership to emerge in a generation, this seminal work features leaders of the armed forces as they learn from the past and present and look toward the future. Synopsis A Warrior's Heart by : Micky Ward

With the success of the critically-acclaimed, Academy Award-winning film “The Fighter,” the world stood up and cheered for the inspiring true story of Micky Ward—a heart-and-soul warrior who overcame the odds to make history in the ring. But that was only part of the tale… Now, in his own words, “Irish” Micky Ward tells his inspirational life story as only he can. From his first bout at the age of seven, Micky Ward was known first and foremost for giving as good as he got, and for leaving absolutely everything he had in the ring. When he fought, quitting was never an option. It was that indomitable spirit that would allow him to survive, battle against, and overcome the harsh realities that he faced every day of his life. For it was outside the ring that Ward’s heart would be most needed, from witnessing his idolized older half-brother Dicky fall from grace, to dealing with his wildly dysfunctional—if frighteningly loyal—family, to the darkest of secrets that he has never revealed until now, and the numerous setbacks and defeats that would have stopped a lesser man. Micky Ward has remained a fighter, through and through—both as a professional boxer, and as a man who finally found his greatest strength in friendship, family, and faith in himself From the rough streets of Lowell, Massachusetts, to the blood and sweat of the international fight game, to the bright lights and adulation of Hollywood, this is the rousing, moving, tragic, and humorous story of the one and only Micky Ward.

Synopsis Reluctant Celebrity by : Lorraine York

In this book, Lorraine York examines the figure of the celebrity who expresses discomfort with his or her intense condition of social visibility. Bringing together the fields of celebrity studies and what Ann Cvetkovich has called the “affective turn in cultural studies”, York studies the mixed affect of reluctance, as it is performed by public figures in the entertainment industries. Setting aside the question of whether these performances are offered “in good faith” or not, York theorizes reluctance as the affective meeting ground of seemingly opposite emotions: disinclination and inclination. The figures under study in this book are John Cusack, Robert De Niro, and Daniel Craig—three white, straight, cis-gendered-male cinematic stars who have persistently and publicly expressed a feeling of reluctance about their celebrity. York examines how the performance of reluctance, which is generally admired in celebrities, builds up cultural prestige that can then be turned to other purposes.
