Synopsis Tungsten and Its Compounds by : G. D. Rieck
Tungsten and Its Compounds is a three-chapter text that explores the history, properties, production, and use of tungsten and its related compounds. The first chapter deals with the discovery, applications, ore occurrence, and production of tungsten. The second chapter describes the physico-chemical properties of elemental tungsten, including the structural, thermal, optical, electrical, and mechanical properties, as well as its preparation, production, reactivity, adsorption, electrochemical properties, and analytical aspects. This chapter also examines tungsten's metallographic properties, such as melting, powder metallurgy, singe crystals, and polycrystallinity. The third chapter reviews the properties of tungsten with other metals, metalloids, acids, and salts. This book is of value to inorganic, organic, and analytical chemists, as well as chemistry teachers and students.

Synopsis Tungsten by : Erik Lassner
This definitive work is the most uptodate compendium on tungsten in over twenty years. Wolf-Dieter Schubert's scientific career and extensive research activities combined with Erik Lassner's long-term industrial and development knowledge make this an essential resource on the current status of tungsten science and technology. Consolidating new knowledge previously presented at seminars or in the technical press, Tungsten is a significant contribution to the broader acceptance of the most recent innovations in the field. The text is enhanced by over 300 illustrations.

Synopsis Transition Metal Carbyne Complexes by : F.R. Kreißl
The chemistry of transition metal carbyne complexes has become a highly attractive field during the past twenty years. In recent years its application to aspects of catalysis and metathesis has gained considerable interest from inorganic as well as organic chemists. In addition, organic synthesis by means of metal carbon multiple bond reagents offers the most sophisticated technology currently available. In consideration of these developments some of Professor E. O. Fischer's former coworkers and colleagues felt obliged to orga nize this NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Transition Metal Carbyne Complexes in the Bavarian Alps. They have been encouraged by the fact that most of the distinguished scientists in the field of metal-carbon multiple bond chemistry had finally agreed to participate and to present stimulating lectures. The organizers of the workshop are deeply grateful to the Scientific Affairs Division of the NATO for the generous financial support of the meeting in Wildbad Kreuth and for the preparation of this book. They also feel indebted to acknowledge the generous support from Wacker-Chemie, BASF, Peroxid-Chemie, Hoechst and Bayer. Finally they thank the staff of the Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung in Wildbad Kreuth for providing a pleasant and stimu lating atmosphere during the meeting.

Synopsis Pyridine Metal Complexes, Part 6A by : Desmond J. Brown
The Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, since its inception, has been recognized as a cornerstone of heterocyclic chemistry. Each volume attempts to discuss all aspects – properties, synthesis, reactions, physiological and industrial significance – of a specific ring system. To keep the series up-to-date, supplementary volumes covering the recent literature on each individual ring system have been published. Many ring systems (such as pyridines and oxazoles) are treated in distinct books, each consisting of separate volumes or parts dealing with different individual topics. With all authors are recognized authorities, the Chemistry of Heterocyclic Chemistry is considered worldwide as the indispensable resource for organic, bioorganic, and medicinal chemists.

Synopsis Fluxional Organometallic and Coordination Compounds by : Marcel Gielen
This series offers leading contributions by well-known chemists reviewing the state of the art of this wide research area. Physical organometallic chemistry aims to develop new insights and to promote novel interest and investigations applicable to organometallic chemistry. This volume focuses on several important topics on fluxionality in organometallic and coordination chemistry, reviewed by experts in each of the respective fields. It is intended to provide both authoritative concepts and stimulating ideas in order to tackle dynamics from different angles, aiming at an interdisciplinary approach. The fascinating fluxionality of metal-ligand interactions has been in the centre of interest ever since modern coordination and organometallic chemistry started, and has expanded towards bioinorganic chemistry, catalysis and materials sciences. Provides information on some of the most relevant physical methods for studying dynamic processes Presents numerous examples of dynamic behavior, demonstrating the efficiency of the respective method and stimulating further applications Connects main group, transition metal and solid state chemistry in the question for dynamics

Synopsis Comprehensive Medicinal Chemistry II by : David J Triggle
The first edition of Comprehensive Medicinal Chemistry was published in 1990 and was very well received. Comprehensive Medicinal Chemistry II is much more than a simple updating of the contents of the first edition. Completely revised and expanded, this new edition has been refocused to reflect the significant developments and changes over the past decade in genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, combinatorial chemistry, high-throughput screening and pharmacology, and more. The content comprises the most up-to-date, authoritative and comprehensive reference text on contemporary medicinal chemistry and drug research, covering major therapeutic classes and targets, research strategy and organisation, high-throughput technologies, computer-assisted design, ADME and selected case histories. It is this coverage of the strategy, technologies, principles and applications of medicinal chemistry in a single work that will make Comprehensive Medicinal Chemistry II a unique work of reference and a single point of entry to the literature for pharmaceutical and biotechnology scientists of all disciplines and for many industry executives as well. Also available online via ScienceDirect (2006) - featuring extensive browsing, searching, and internal cross-referencing between articles in the work, plus dynamic linking to journal articles and abstract databases, making navigation flexible and easy. For more information, pricing options and availability visit www.info.sciencedirect.com. Comprehensively reviews - the strategies, technologies, principles and applications of modern medicinal chemistry Provides a global and current perspective of today's drug discovery process and discusses the major therapeutic classes and targets Includes a unique collection of case studies and personal assays reviewing the discovery and development of key drugs

Synopsis Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II by :
Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II (COFGT-II) will provide the first point of entry to the literature for all scientists interested in chemical transformations. Presenting the vast subject of organic synthesis in terms of the introduction and interconversion of all known functional groups, COFGT-II provides a unique information source documenting all methods of efficiently performing a particular transformation. Organised by the functional group formed, COFGT-II consists of 144 specialist reviews, written by leading scientists who evaluate and summarise the methods available for each functional group transformation. Also available online via ScienceDirect – featuring extensive browsing, searching, and internal cross-referencing between articles in the work, plus dynamic linking to journal articles and abstract databases, making navigation flexible and easy. For more information, pricing options and availability visit www.info.sciencedirect.com. By systematically treating each functional group in turn the work also identifies what is not known, thus pointing the way to new research areas Follows the systematic layout of the successful 1995 COFGT reference work, based on the arrangement and bonding of hetero-atoms around a central carbon atom The work will save researchers valuable time in their research as each chapter is written by experts who have critically read and reviewed the literature and presented the best methods of forming every known functional group
