Synopsis Traditional Window Designs of Kirklareli, Turkey by : Nevnihal Erdoğan
Traditional Window Designs of Kirklareli, Turkey is original research on window design and presents readers the unique culture of Turkey. The theme of this book is based on samples of windows of the late 19th and early 20th century in Kirklareli. A total of 103 homes of traditional style have been observed in the old districts of the city. The windows in these buildings were studied in detail, were photographed and their plan, sectional elevations and views were obtained by scale drawings. Samples from 57 windows that were collected during the research process were selected to be published in this book. Some details are important with their color, with their ornaments and details, with their place in the façade having architectural elements belonging to certain periods, and with carvings of certain symbols. This presentation is a significant step towards creating new designs with respect to cultural continuation and in building protection studies. Thus the book provides a rich illustrated resource for architects, designers and researchers interested in gaining a better understanding of diversity of design characteristics in different neighborhoods of Kirklareli in Turkey. Readers, including students and industry professionals can learn from the lessons provided in this book about unique window design and production.

Synopsis Turkish Traditional Art Today by : Henry Glassie
He tells of architecture, calligraphy, woodworking, and earthenware, but lays particular emphasis on the brilliant, underglaze-painted ceramics of Kutahya and the rich, piled carpets for which Turkey has been famed for centuries. While searching for the traits that define art and the stylistic complexities that characterize Turkish creativity, Glassie focuses on the artists and their theories and practices as well as the works they produce.

Synopsis Inside Out in Istanbul by : Lisa Morrow
Planning to travel to Istanbul and want to know what adventures will await you? Already been and want to know more? "Inside Out In Istanbul" is a collection of short stories about life in Istanbul by author Lisa Morrow. Lisa first went to Turkey in 1990, where she stayed in the small village of Göreme for three months during the Gulf War. Since that time she has travelled back and forth between Turkey and Australia many times, living and working in Istanbul and Kayseri in central Turkey, before finally settling for good in Istanbul. The stories in this collection take you beyond the world famous sights of Istanbul to the shores of Asia, to an Istanbul that is vibrantly alive with the sounds of street vendors, wedding parties, weekly markets and more. Come behind the tourist façades and venture deep into this sometimes chaotic, often schizophrenic but always charming city.
