"The unknown isn't so unbelievable in Dames’s hands."—George Noory As the operations and training officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency's Psychic Intelligence Unit, Major Dames, with his team, used the practice of remote viewing to uncover accurate military intelligence. After retiring from the military, Dames turned his paranormal detective skills to finding missing persons, such as millionaire pilot Steve Fossett, whose plane vanished in Nevada, and a young Colorado girl named Christina White, who disappeared seemingly without a trace. He has even located one of the most legendary missing objects in history, the Ark of the Covenant. In Tell Me What You See, Dames takes you behind the scenes of some of his most mind-bending cases. Reveals true stories and fascinating secrets uncovered by the military's remote viewing teams—from intelligence on Soviet missile sites to the whereabouts of missing POWs in Vietnam to the location of the Ark of the Covenant Maj. Dames is the most popular guest on George Noory's exceedingly popular radio show Coast to Coast AM For anyone fascinated by the intersection of the military and the mysterious, Tell Me What You See is an amazing and completely absorbing must-read.

In the book, More than Meets the Eye; A Journey into the Mysteries of Psychic Phenomena, I invite the reader to join me in a fascinating trip to the field known as parapsychology. Parapsychology, or psi phenomena, are psychic events which do not lend themselves to regular explanation based on evidence provided by the senses; they are said to be extrasensory. These phenomena are: telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and precognition. Our communication is based ordinarily on hearing or reading the others words, but in telepathic communication we are said to know the others thoughts directly, without the mediation of the senses. In clairvoyance, known also as remote viewing, we are said to see remote places without using the eyes. In psychokinesis we are said to be able to bend, push, or break objects without touching them, and in precognition we have direct glimpses of the future. Are telepathy, clairvoyance and other kinds of psychic phenomena real, or are they figments of an overly active imagination? And what about phenomena such as out-of-body experiences, apparitions of dead people, and reincarnation? Are such phenomena real? On the basis of my own experience, of the experiences of people I had interviewed, and of information I had gleaned from books by credible authors, I reach certain interesting conclusions which I share with the reader.

With a foreword by James Randi Paranormal investigator Joe Nickell has spent more than thirty years solving the world's most perplexing mysteries. This new casebook reveals the secrets of the Winchester Mystery House, the giant Nazca drawings of Peru, the Shroud of Turin, the "Mothman" enigma, the Amityville Horror house, the vicious goatsucking El Chupacabras, and numerous other "unexplainable" paranormal phenomena. Nickell has traveled far and wide to solve cases, which include a weeping icon in Russia, the elusive Bigfoot-like "yowie" in Australia, the reputed power of a headless saint in Spain, and an "alien hybrid" in Germany. He has gone undercover—often in disguise—to reveal the tricks of those who pretend to talk to the dead, accompanied a Cajun guide into a Louisiana swamp in search of a fabled monster, and gained an audience with a voodoo queen. Superstar psychic medium John Edward, pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick, evangelist and healer Benny Hinn, and many other well-known figures have found themselves under Nickell's careful scrutiny. The Mystery Chronicles examines more than three dozen intriguing mysteries. Nickell uses a hands-on approach and the scientific method to steer between the extremes of mystery mongering and debunking. His investigative skills have won him both acclaim and controversy during his long career as one of the world's foremost paranormal investigators.

We are living in a complicated period in relation to our understanding of 'extraordinary' phenomena. Naive materialist approaches are more assertive than ever, in anthropology and in the world more generally. At the same time, the taboos against admitting to the reality of the paranormal are weakening. There is a growing body of writing which takes the paranormal and extraordinary seriously, while bringing to it the same academic standards that any other subject matter would require. This is a valuable and important development, and it helps open the way to new modes of understanding in the sciences and social sciences that will not reject scientific rationality, but expand that rationality so as to include more of the world of human experience. The articles in this Paranthropology reader provide important clues and suggestions, along with rigorous argument, to help us in exploring what is likely to be a major area of anthropological engagement in coming years. Dr.Geoffrey Samuel, Cardiff University.
