Come, discover the little-known tales and treasured classics in this collection of 200 fairytales. Brothers Grimm are probably the best-known storytellers in the world. Some of their most popular fairy tales are "Cinderella", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Little Red Riding Hood" and there is hardly anybody who has not grown up with the adventures of Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel and Snow White. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s exceptional literature legacy consists of recorded German and European folktales and legends. Their collections have been translated into all European languages in their lifetime and into every living language today.

Synopsis The Fairytale and Plot Structure by : Terence Patrick Murphy
This book offers a detailed exploration of the plot genotype, the functional structure behind the plots of classical fairy tales. Synopsis Tom Tit Tot & Sequel by : Anna Walter Thomas
“If you have not guessed my name by month’s end, then you shall be mine!” In this classic English folktale, our heroine eats too many pies - which leads to her marrying a king who only wants her for her skills as a spinster - which leads to her making a deal with a diminutive, magical creature in order to save her life! Can she guess the name of her helper in time? Or will he succeed in claiming her as his own? The sequel, ‘The Gipsy Woman’, is set a year later and finds the queen once more charged with the task of spinning five skeins, daily, for a month. Help arrives in the form of a gipsy woman but can she be trusted? This book contains two versions of the each tale: one in modern day English, and the other, as told originally, in the dialect of East Anglia. [Folklore Type: ATU-500 (The Name of the Helper)]

Synopsis World Tales by : Idries Shah
No ordinary collection of tales, this anthology was the result of extensive research that led Shah to conclude that there is a certain basic fund of human fictions which recur again and again throughout the world and never seem to lose their compelling attraction. This special paperback version of World Tales concentrates on the essentials, the text of the stories, and omits the illustrations which were part of a previous edition.

Synopsis English Fairy Tales by : Joseph Jacobs
English Fairy Tales By Joseph Jacobs A word or two as to our title seems necessary. We have called our stories Fairy Tales though few of them speak of fairies. The same remark applies to the collection of the Brothers Grimm and to all the other European collections, which contain exactly the same classes of tales as ours. Yet our stories are what the little ones mean when they clamour for "Fairy Tales," and this is the only name which they give to them. One cannot imagine a child saying, "Tell us a folk-tale, nurse," or "Another nursery tale, please, grandma." As our book is intended for the little ones, we have indicated its contents by the name they use. The words "Fairy Tales" must accordingly be taken to include tales in which occurs something "fairy," something extraordinary--fairies, giants, dwarfs, speaking animals. It must be taken also to cover tales in which what is extraordinary is the stupidity of some of the actors.

Synopsis The Goblin Pony and Other Stories by : Vic Parker
The story “Beauty and the Beast” is well known to most people—or is it? In this retelling of the classic fairy tale, the dark details of the original story return. Readers who have only seen the famous movie will find the beast much harsher, but the goodness of the young woman who comes to know him remains enchanting. Richly colored images and illustrations accompany this tale as well as “The Goblin Pony,” "Tom Tit Tot," "The Goblin Pony," "The Jellyfish and the Monkey," and "The Strange Visitor." Though from other cultures, they offer the same eeriness of more familiar tales.
