Synopsis The History of al-Ṭabarī Vol. 9 by : Abu Ja'far Muhammad Bin Jarir Al-Tabari

This volume deals with the last two and a half years of the Prophet's life. In addition to the three major expeditions to Ḥunanyn, Tā'if, and Tabūk, it describes in detail the circumstances surrounding the illness from which he died and the subsequent crisis of leadership faced by the nascent Muslim community. The author depicts with admirable fairness all the various opinions and divisions that existed within the community. He also presents a vivid picture of the Prophet's physical appearance, his personal life, and his marriages. Among other topics discussed in this volume are all the deputations that came to Medina; a summary of all the expeditions and raiding parties; and his scribes, freedmen, horses, camels, goats, swords, coats of mail, and so on. It also covers the apostasy of Musaylimah, Aswad, and Ṭulhahah and the Prophet's attempts to deal with them. The translation not only preserves the original lively flavor of al-Ṭabarī but also, in its annotations, draws extensively on both parallel Arabic sources and the intensive research of recent years. Readers who seek a deeper understanding of the Prophet's personality and of the reasons for antagonisms engendered among various factions will find this volume most informative.

Synopsis Lay Me in God's Good Earth by : Kent Burreson

Current burial practices in the West fail to confront us with the reality of death and make it harder to grieve properly. Burreson and Hoeltke argue that natural burial offers a more accurate picture of Christian hope and resurrection. This immensely practical guide is also an application of the hope of the resurrection to those grieving.

Welcome to Vivo, where the only cemetery is run by old Mateus and his dog, God. Mateus’s eyes aren’t so good these days, which is why he has been burying bodies in the wrong graves, and also why, while out walking with God, he trips over a young homeless girl. On a whim, Mateus decides to appoint the girl as his apprentice. Novo, who has been sleeping on the street with a dog-eared copy of The Savage Detectives as her pillow, is determined to reorganise the cemetery, but she will have to hurry: buried awry, divorced from their names, the ghosts of Vivo are accumulating, unable to proceed to the afterlife without knowing who they are. Also, someone, or some thing, is on the loose, killing people and closing in on the one person who can make things right.

Synopsis God's Plan by : Joan Parris

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. --Psalm 19:1-2 God has spoken once; twice have I heard this that power belongs to God! When God reminded me about the spoken word from his prophet from years ago, I became alive again as his words are in my life. The expectation of the wicked will not be met in my life. Ye shall not fear them: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you. (Deuteronomy 3:22) The Word of God is a consuming fire; and on my tree, the fire burns in degrees--first, second, and third degrees! The problem is not that I was not giving in God ministries but because I was not consulting God. I learned to depend on God. I am grateful for the gift of God. As nature presents itself, I choose right from wrong, and then I smell that the water is dried up out of the pot with the eggs I was not flustered. I said, "Oh Lord God, how can someone burn eggs! I just did." And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) Fruit baskets are full with different types of fruits and vegetables. No good trees bear bad fruits, nor does a bad tree bears good fruit. (Luke 6:43) A father is the monarch of the house of God and teaches his children the truth and steer them into the right direction! As I was prophesying, things are coming together. The delicious plate of wickedness was devoured, and I am still standing to speak about it! Not everyone can fit in my shoes as the discomfort of it will make them surrender. Don't let me pray. As I started to pray, there was silence after a while, then the line went dead! After learning to walk in obedience and started to with God, things became very easy, not smooth, because there are levels and levels! Trouble is always attached to people who try to get away from trouble but attract trouble by adaption! Yet man that is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. (Job 5:7) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. (1 John 4:18) Insecurity and how it impacts your life has pros and cons as well as everything in life! Raven's and dove's assignments are not the same as they are heading in different directions! Tears are reserved for special times when it's ready to flow in every area of your life. Birds cannot fly with broken wings as the wings need to expand and stretch out as the wind passes through and gives it the push it needed to fly! God's ways are higher than man's ways. Also, the thoughts of God are higher than the thoughts of men as far as the heaven is high above the earth. That is how the word of God describes the ways and thoughts of God; so is God's! Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 18:19)

Synopsis The Last God by : Gillian St. Kevern

Kel, a former prince turned gravedigger, serves the Unknown God. Bitter about the gods’ neglect of their people, Kel’s limited patience with the divine is tested when his former lover, now a famous general, shows up in the tiny town of Farport. Done with being the gods’ plaything, Kel quits the priesthood—only to discover that the unknown god has plans for him and his ex. Iscar’s shocked to discover that the prince who was too good for a lowly soldier now follows the god of outcasts. He’s even more shocked when the unknown god declares himself to be War and claims Kel as his high-priest. Having experienced all war’s horrors, Iscar is determined to free Kel from the god, escorting him to Celestial City in an attempt to win Kel away. Kel fights his attraction to Iscar and struggles with his duty to his god. Iscar’s belief that the gods are just, and reward those who are deserving, is challenged by their journey. His allegiance is no longer to the gods, but to his love. But Kel, consumed by doubt, cannot see what a man—or a god—would want in him.
