Shayna is abandoned by her mother and when Mrs. Andrews takes her in, she enrolls her in a religious summer program. There she meets Tanya, a preacher's child, and Mercides, who is from a wealthy background. Although they are from vastly different families, they become fast friends. Three Shades of Blackness offers a tale in which the author combines unique family relationships, loyalty among friends and faith in the Lord in the lives of three girls who must deal with the highs and lows of adolescence as well as more adult choices.
