Synopsis The Whispering Dark by : Christofer Emgard
At war with Russia, United States Special Forces confront a supernatural horror in this military thriller from a writer of the video games Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront II. Illustrated by the artist of Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath and Garth Ennis' War Stories, this suspenseful graphic novel combines the cosmic terror of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness with the unflinching gaze of Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now, bringing readers on a horrifying descent into the heart of darkness. Co-Pilot Hannah Vance believed her faith in God could survive anything, including combat. But when her helicopter is shot down behind enemy lines while lifting out a squad of Army Rangers, she finds her morality, and her sanity, tested to its limits and beyond. Hunted by the Russians and surviving on little more than go-pills and fear, Hannah's desperate search for a way out of enemy territory will lead her to fight and to kill on an ever more savage battlefield. On the horizon, an evil waits for her--and freedom, of a sort. This is a tense and terrifying journey through the lies laid bare by modern warfare, and the dark truths that lurk beneath them.

Synopsis Free Agent (Paul Dark 1) by : Jeremy Duns
In July 1945 MI6 agent Paul Dark took part in a top secret mission to hunt down and execute Nazi war criminals. He will discover that everything he understood about that mission, about its consequences, and about the woman he once loved, has been built on false foundations. Now it's 1969 and a KGB colonel called Slavin has walked into the High Commission inLagos, Nigeria, and announced that he wants to defect. His credentials as a defector are good - he has highly suggestive information which indicates that there is yet another double agent within MI6, which would be a devastating blow for a Service still coming to terms with its betrayal by Kim Philby and the rest of the Cambridge Five. Paul Dark has been largely above suspicion during MI6's years of self-recrimination. But this time he can see his number coming up. For some it would be fight or flight time. But when you discover that everything you've taken for granted and trusted for twenty four years turns out to be untrue, and when your arrest may only be moments away, then perhaps the only option is both fight and flight. Free Agent is a twisting, intense thriller set between London and Nigeria during the height of the Cold War. It's a novel of innumerable cliffhangers, all set within a constantly evolving moral universe, and the surprises keep coming until the very last page. Jeremy Duns is also the author of the acclaimed Spy Out the Land, Song of Treason and The Moscow Option.

Synopsis Future Dark 1: Aliens by : Trung Nguyen
This is the first book in the Future Dark series. In 2194, Mars is colonized. The descendants of 21st century industrialist Elon Musk, founder of Musk City, Mars, form the ruling elite on the Red Planet. The Musk clan is about to face a historical event as one of their own, Lazar Musk Whittaker, a Biomech, embarks on an ambitious undertaking to change the course of human evolution. The war of the species and the fracture within the Musk clan begin when four tombs are discovered encased in an asteroid in a mining facility on Phobos, one of Mars’ two moons. As the Martians soon discover, these tombs contain the bodies of four aliens. In the future, Earth is a multi-humanoid society of Naturalopists (natural humans), Biomechs (biological-mechanical beings), cyborgs (part machine-part human), milbots (military robots), cilbots (civilian robots), and wobots (worker robots). “I liked this novel a lot...The plot of this novel is its strongest element...The author can put together a very strong plot, with plenty of twists and turns, and a good ending. There are some very suspenseful moments, and levels of tension are created which at their best evoke the sensations of a fine horror story. And the author, by and large, appears to have done his/her homework. The novel also has sociological touches which work well, especially its view of futuristic mega-capitalism. The venality, blindness, and excess of Udell Whittaker and his flunkeys is very believable, and adds depth to the story. The manner of day to day life, both in space and on the ‘colonies' of Mars seems well-researched and is often fascinating to the lay reader…” — Writers Guild of Alberta
