Synopsis The Ultimate Timeline by : Aaron Majifer

This book logically and systematically walks the reader through events in world history with the aim of concisely summarising the context. The aim is for the reader to come away fully equipped with a fundamental knowledge of world history from just this one source. The evolution of homo sapiens, birth of agriculture, dawn of civilisation, ancient empires, Middle East, ancient Greece, Persia, and Rome, Medieval Age, Rise of Christianity and Islam, Crusades, Age of Discovery, Atlantic Slave Trade, East India Company, French and American Revolutions, American Civil War, Industrial Revolution, First and Second World Wars, Indian Independence movement, Vietnam War, Modern Age and 21st century (including the coronavirus pandemic) are but a few topics covered by this timeline. There are also lots of facts and trivia covered such as all the US Presidents and tallest buildings in the world.Timelines are, of course, nothing new. We are all drawn to them in some way. There are many versions out there and they come in different shapes and sizes. You'll find them on walls in museums. People will reminisce about drawing them at school for a history lesson. You can now conveniently download historical timelines as apps on your phone (though one might question their usefulness or veracity). There are also plenty of timeline books (all brilliant in their own right). Existing books, though, tend to be either one or more of the following: large in size, encyclopaedic, saturated with information, or predominantly aimed at children. By contrast, what is offered in this book is to provide the reader with succinct, continuous narratives from which they can methodically unfold history from one event to the next whilst properly understanding the how and the why. You wouldn't just be taking in dates but understanding the context behind events. The book strikes a balance between being concise and comprehensive. In order to properly achieve this, some of the subject matter is not suitable for a younger audience so the book is aimed mainly for teens and adults. This book can appeal to people in various ways, the underlying purpose being to educate. It can be the gateway for anyone looking for that unadulterated understanding of world history. Students might find it useful as a supplement to their studies, whatever level they are at. Maybe it will inspire someone to research an area of interest in more detail (maybe it will encourage them to do their own timeline). Perhaps it can used for someone needing to brush up for their next work quiz. Please do sample before you buy. And enjoy!
