First of a series, these hearings inquire into the major issues associated with the development of a domestic synthetic fuels industry. The Subcommittee investigates the Synthetic Fuels Corporation's role in implementing the Energy Security Act; the appropriateness and value of the proposed project selection criteria in establishing Corporation priorities; environmental and socioeconomic impacts of synthetic fuel industry developments; and key economic and other factors associated with oil shale and coal resource development.
