Synopsis Supernatural by : Cael Novak
From the successful book: Sobrenatural: 300 Historias de Terror, Misterio y Leyendas Urbanas. Comes the awaited English translation. The universe is full of mysteries that we will never be able to solve, you'll understand it sooner rather than later, but even if we only focused on our planet Earth, we would realize that countless extraordinary and inexplicable events have occurred around the centuries. Intrigued by the mystery and the supernatural, I undertook a research to investigate these types of cases, my search led me to talk to many people who told me their stories, and I wrote the cases that seemed most interesting in the form of a story in a book that I called my Supernatural Diary. But that didn’t seem enough to me, so I investigated cases of missing persons that touched the impossible, very strange cases related to the ouija, dolls possessed by evil entities, cursed objects, urban legends from many parts of the world, unsolved murders in addition to different UFO sightings that have not only one but multiple serious witnesses, and many other stories and special cases that I wroted here since I consider they are worth sharing with you, you can believe me when I tell you that this book is full of surprises. You’ll start reading quite "soft" stories, but make sure to move forward, since you will realize that the higher the count the stories will be getting a bit more disturbing each time, and some will even reassess your beliefs. So without further ado, accompany me through 300 stories full of mystery, suspense, terror and much more!

Synopsis Cultivating Madrid by : Daniel Frost
Interdisciplinary in approach, 'Cultivating Madrid' argues that gardens and garden imagery trouble the distinction not only between nature and artifice, but also between reality and representation in general, and are thus crucial to understanding realism and the process of modernisation in Spain.

Synopsis Secrets of Pinar's Game (2 vols) by : Roger Boase
In Secrets of Pinar’s Game, Roger Boase is the first to decipher a card game completed in 1496 for Queen Isabel, Prince Juan, her daughters and her 40 court ladies. This game offers readers access to the cultural memory of a group of educated women, revealing their knowledge of proverbs, poetry and sentimental romance, their understanding of the symbolism of birds and trees, and many facts ignored in official sources. Boase translates all verse into English, reassesses the jousting invenciones in the Cancionero general (1511), reinterprets the poetry of Pinar’s sister Florencia, and identifies Acevedo, author of some poems about festivities in Murcia c. 1507. He demonstrates that many of Pinar’s ladies reappear as prostitutes in the anonymous Carajicomedia two decades later.

Synopsis ETHNIC REALITIES OF MEXICAN AMERICANS by : Martin Guevara Urbina
The goal of this book is to examine the ethnic experience of the Mexican American community in the United States, from colonialism to twenty-first century globalization. The authors unearth evidence that reveals how historically white ideology, combined with science, law, and the American imagination, has been strategically used as a mechanism to intimidate, manipulate, oppress, control, dominate, and silence Mexican Americans, ethnic racial minorities, and poor whites. A theoretical and philosophical overview is presented, focusing on the repressive practice against Mexicans that resulted in violence, brutality, vigilantism, executions, and mass expulsions. The Mexican experience under “hooded” America is explored, including religion, the Ku Klux Klan, and the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement. Local, state, and federal laws are documented, often in conflict with one another, including the Homeland Security program that continues to result in detentions and deportations. The authors examine the continuing argument of citizenship that has been used to legally exclude Mexican children from the educational system and thereby being characterized as not fit for the classroom nor entitled to an equitable education. Segregation and integration in the classroom is discussed, featuring examples of court cases. As documented throughout the book, American law is a constant reminder of the pervasive ideology of the historical racial supremacy, socially defined and enforced ethnic inferiority, and the rejection of positive social change, equality, and justice that continues to persist in the United States. The book is extensively referenced and is intended for professionals in the fields of sociology, history, ethnic studies, Mexican American (Chicano) studies, law and political science and also those concerned with sociolegal issues.
