Synopsis The Resurrection of Adonay Rabboni Meshia by : Daniel F. Owsley
In my dream before our Lord of All sat up, the brightest beams of His very own holiness were all of a sudden flashing from beneath the wings of our great white Eagle of the Ages! And His strong voice of the most peaceful type of serene tranquillity was resonating pretty hard within that not so silent silence, while the broken chains of death's tightest grip were rattling all around our newly woke Fountain of Endless Living Waters. 'Twas ever so delightful to watch that Priest of Priests slowly rise and shake off His long winding-sheet as it passed right through Him. For it was easy to see that this Living Atonement for our Sin was only clothed with the mightiest power and the most powerful might that He had before the beginning of anything that He long ago brought forth through His Father's most loving consent and direction. "Twas therefore a period of unbounded honour, a second of many angelic kudos and accolades, a time for many laurels, and the esteemed hour of His greatest legacy explodi ng wildly, always fated to remain at that cresendo. For the radiance flowing over our Lord's formerly lifeless corpse was far stronger than countless torches ever could have emitted; Nor could I even bear to look upon the hovering cloud of His holiest glory for more than a split fraction of a brief instant; And, I was soon to be stunned like someone that was being hit by lightening, while frying in an electric chair.

Synopsis The Silence of God by : Sir Robert Anderson
The Silence of God (1897) has become a classic on the subject of why God has not directly intervened in the affairs of men for the past two thousand years. Here's how Anderson puts the question he addresses: "And to not a few this volume may be welcome as affording a clue to pressing difficulties which perplex and distress the thoughtful. Infidelity trades upon the silence of Heaven, the inaction of the Supreme. If there be a God, almighty and all-good, why does He not use His power and give proof of His goodness in the way men choose to expect of Him? The answer usually offered by the Christian apologist fails either to silence the opponent or to satisfy the believer. And rightly so, for it is lacking not only in cogency but in sympathy. The God of the Bible is infinite both in power and in compassion; and in other ages His people had public proof of this. Why, then, is He so silent?"

Synopsis The Babylonian Talmud by : Jacob Neusner
The Hebrew Scriptures contain many hundreds of laws both religious and civil. They concern the Temple (in Exodus), the priesthood (in Leviticus), the Temple offerings and other rites (in Numbers), and the social order of Israel (in Deuteronomy). These may rightly be called the written law (Torah). The oral law is the extension of these precepts to cover all of life and its contingencies. The oral law (or Mishnah) was written down by rabbinic sages about 200 C.E. With the Talmud, Jewish sages systematized the laws in Scripture together with those of the oral tradition. While the Mishnah records rules governing the conduct of the holy life of Israel, the Talmud concerns itself with the details of the Mishnah. Israel's oral law found its definitive expression in the Talmud. The Talmud of Babylonia (a.k.a., the Bavli, or Babylonian Talmud), is a sustained commentary on the written and oral law of Israel. Compiled between 500-600 C.E., it offers a magnificent record of how Jewish scholars preserved a humane and enduring civilization. Representing the primary document of rabbinic Judaism, it throws considerable light on the New Testament as well. This monumental American translation was completed a decade ago--but was extraordinarily expensive and difficult to find--and features translations by Jacob Neusner, Tzvee Zahavy, Alan Avery-Peck, B. Barry Levy, Peter Haas, and Martin S. Jaffee, with commentary and new introductions by Jacob Neusner.
