A secret society of high schoolers are up for a challenge to find the darkest tree of them all: the forbidden tree. The tree that would stand as tall as a skyscraper building and was as wide as a flowing river. This tree would grant you anything you wanted, such as making you the richest person in the world, but it came with a deadly price. Each student would get $100,000 in their group if they found the forbidden tree located in a forbidden place like Camp Clover. Located deep, deep, deep in the woods, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. As students continued to stand firm on the dare that was made to follow through at the end of the senior year, students that participates in these dares at the end of the year took a secret oath to follow through each dare carried out through the secret society. Perhaps this year would be more challenging and deadly than the previous years of dares made through the secret society. Camp Clover—which is off-limits to anyone being that the camp was closed off to the communities around due to all those horrific murders made out at Camp Clover—made that dare that much more interesting and challenging, not to mention how much money was involved as the kids prepared for this deadly trip ahead. If you were not strong-minded, the tree would suck your soul, making you the deadliest evil person walking the earth. As the seniors prepared for the deadliest trip being ordered, they had no idea that they might not return home to see their loved ones again. Little did they know that this might be their last time eating meals from home. As the time drew nearer, nervousness started to set in. Now, who's ready to go camping?

As a body, these records are extracted from roughly 750 known Bibles and extend from the late 18th through the early 20th centuries, with the greatest concentration from the mid-19th century. Most of the entries refer to births, marriages, and deaths and in most cases indicate the name(s) of the principals, the date of the event, and, sometimes, such supplementary information as his/her age or address, the maiden name of a parent, etc. Each Bible record is identified by family name and followed by a reference to the Huguenot Society records where the original can be found. In all, the records refer to more than 2,500 main families named in the surname index at the back of the volume and embrace a staggering 25,000 individuals of Huguenot or possible Huguenot ancestry--connections and allied families that would otherwise be lost to us in the unpublished files of this august organization.

Formed in 1851 from portions of Randolph, Lewis, and Barbour Counties, Upshur County, West Virginia lies in the north central part of the state on the Allegheny Plateau. Rolling foothills and waterways such as the Buckhannon River paint a picturesque landscape, while warm-hearted residents provide testimony to the benefits of living in such amicable surroundings. Upshur County revisits this area during its earlier days, when time seemed to move much slower and wagon squeaks and horses neighs were common sounds in the towns and along the roads. It also brings the reader into present-day Upshur County, highlighting the industrialization that has taken place in more recent times. This volume celebrates Upshurs long and rich heritage by lingering on the stories and images of historical sites, which include the offspring of the sycamore tree in whose hollowed trunk Samuel and John Pringle lived for three years in the 1700s and the old courthouse that was damaged by fire three times in its first six months of existence. Readers will no doubt recognize many of the traditions captured in these pages, including scenes of street parades and the famous Strawberry Festival.
