The Preen Family History Study Group exists to research the history of the Preen Family. They also publish books such as this one and meet every year in a place where some part of the Preen family lived in earlier centuries. In June 2010, it was the 21st such reunion and the meeting was held in Parlors Hall, Mill Street, Bridgnorth. A recent DNA study has shown that the Preen family is divided into three main groups. The one we call the "Bridgnorth Group" has as its common ancestors Frank Preen and his wife Fanny who lived in Mills Street, Bridgnorth during the seventeenth century and so lived through the Civil War and the siege of Bridgnorth castle. Some of their descendants lived in Bridgnorth while others moved to Birmingham or the Black Country.

The PREEN FAMILY HISTORY STUDY GROUP exists to research the family. It organises an Annual Reunion and is preparing a History of the Preen Family in four volumes. DNA analysis has shown that the Preen Family is divided into three groups, each with a common ancestor in the seventeenth century. Volume One will discuss the early history of the family and then Volumes Two to Four will each cover one of the three groups. This book is Volume Four describing the Bridgnorth Group. The Bridgnorth Group are descended from Frank and Fanny Preen who lived in Mill Street Bridgnorth in the 1640s and the book traces their descendants as they spread throughout the West Midlands and later throughout the world. It ends with the families who appeared in the 1911 census.

Volume One of this history of the Preen family covers the history from the earliest records. A DNA study has shown that most of the Preens alive today belong to one of three groups and each of these groups is the subject of one of the later volumes (Volume Two the Cardington Group, Volume Three the Kings Stanley Group and Volume Four the Bridgnorth Group). This volume describes all the entries which do not fit into one of the other volumes and includes the Prinn families in Shrewsbury and Kings Charlton, the Pruan family in Gloucestershire and the Prynnes in Cornwall and Devon.

As part of the Preen family History, this booklet selects the Preens of Dunley and gives a short account of their history. It was written to accompany the Family Reunion of 2014. The Preen Family History Study Group exists to promote research into the history of this family. It does this by organising annual reunions, publishing books and circulating a newsletter. In 2013, the reunion was held in Coalport Village Hall close to Preens Eddy. This book discusses the origin of the name Preens Eddy and the Preens associated with it as well as the other sights in the vicinity. At our reunion, we visited places associated with this family and heard about their life and times. This booklet remembers them.

This social history of WWI explores the wartime sacrifices and contributions made by the people of this charming, historic English town. The town of Bridgnorth, located along the Severn River in Shropshire, is a popular tourist destination known for its historic castle and unique funicular rail system. Though it is steeped in military history, much of its role during the Great War has remained obscure until now. Misled by government propaganda, many of Bridgnorth’s men enlisted in the military for what they thought would be a short-term adventure. Their commitment and fortitude in the face of bloody trench warfare gives testament to the incredible bravery of the people of Bridgnorth, and their losses are evidenced in the various commemorative monuments erected throughout the town and surrounding hamlets. Utilizing contemporary documents and wartime servicemen's poignant letters, some of which are disclosed here for the first time, Bridgnorth in the Great War reveals how this once prosperous and industrious West Midlands' town endured great sacrifice in the name of Britain’s war effort.
