Synopsis The Permissive Sense by : Troy J. Edwards
One does not have to read too far into the Bible to find that it says the following about Him: God hardened people’s hearts. God put lying spirits in the mouth of false prophets. God personally deceived prophets. God Blinded people to the truth. God inflicted sickness. God sent natural disasters. God moved people to sin. God tempted men. God intentionally gave men unrighteous laws. God created evil. And even more…. Such statements have presented insurmountable difficulties to Bible readers. Failure to understand them properly have led to doctrines that paint God in less than a favorable light. However, when we understand the permissive sense, most difficulties with such verses will disappear. This book will help you understand this important principle and will remove all doubt about God’s love, goodness, and holiness.

Synopsis Don't Waste Your Cancer by : John Piper
How are we as Christians called to respond when cancer invades our lives, whether our own bodies or those of our friends and family? On the eve of his own cancer surgery, John Piper writes about cancer as an opportunity to glorify God. With pastoral sensitivity, compassion, and strength, Piper gently but firmly acknowledges that we can indeed waste our cancer when we don't see how it is God's good plan for us and a hope-filled path for making much of Jesus. Don't Waste Your Cancer is for anyone touched by a life-threatening illness. It first appeared as an appendix in Suffering and the Sovereignty of God. Repackaged and republished, it will serve as a hope-giving resource for healthcare workers, pastors, counselors, and others caring for those with cancer and other serious illnesses. The booklets are also available in packs of ten.

Synopsis Eis Peirasmón by : Federico Elmetti
For the past two thousand years, theologians and biblical scholars have been furiously debating the correct interpretation of the sixth petition of the Lord's Prayer ("and lead us not into temptation"). Despite all the hypotheses proposed, no convincing solution has been found to date. In fact, every single attempt has crashed against insurmountable difficulties. Even within the church, the debate on this topic is far from settled. Recently, both France and Italy approved new translations that deviate substantially from the two-thousand-year-old traditional Latin version. Since God cannot be the one leading us into temptation (Satan is), it becomes necessary to reformulate the petition by hiding God's responsibility under convoluted permissive constructs. But can any of these interpretations have any exegetical justification? This book is an ambitious and reckless attempt--from the point of view of an outsider, of a theoretical physicist--to rethink the Lord's Prayer from the beginning, and with it, to come closer, if possible, to the authentic message of Christ. As a result of a rigorous, deductive, scientific approach that minimizes any hermeneutical bias, the meaning of the sixth petition will spontaneously emerge and appear to the reader in its simplicity and elegance.

Synopsis Job and the Misrepresentation of God’s Character by : Troy J. Edwards
Many approach the book of Job with a number of presuppositions: God desires to test Job's faithfulness. God is controlling the actions of the devil. That God just might make you the next Job. These presuppositions demonstrate a failure to study the book of Job in the light of the full revelation of Father God found in Jesus Christ. Hence, Job is misused to present God as a capricious deity. In this book we will learn how a proper study of Job shows us that Satan’s plan was to discredit both God and Job. We will learn that God did not instigate Job’s trials, but showed the patriarch compassion by delivering him from the designs of Satan against him.

Synopsis God is Said to do that which He Only Permits by : Troy J. Edwards
“It is usual in Scripture to attribute to the Supreme Power, acts which are virtually those of his instruments, and which he merely permits.” – Charles Edward Fraser-Tytler Many false charges have been leveled at God by His critics (atheists, agnostics, satanists, etc.) due to misreading the Bible. Part of the problem has been the failure to understand the idiomatic language used in the Ancient Near East, especially among the Hebrew people, from which our God inspired Scriptures have their origin. This failure has led to more misunderstandings about God and His inspired Word than we can attest to. While the Hebrews had numerous idioms I am fully persuaded that the most neglected one among theologians and Bible translators has been what I prefer to label as “the permission idiom”. This is the idiom that, as we will learn in this study, scholars tell us is one in which God is said to be the cause of that which He merely allowed or permitted or did not prevent from happening. May the Lord use this book to help you understand Him and your Bible better.
