Synopsis The Once and Future Idiot by : Adam D. Jones
Erlin, the cleverest man in Albion, is keeping a secret: there's no such thing as magic. This doesn't stop him from enjoying a comfortable job as the king's inquisitor, where he pretends to keep the kingdom safe from witches, warlocks, and anything else that frightens the superstitious people of Tomelac. Erlin's carefree life falls apart when he’s ordered to tutor Prince Garth, a clueless boy who has never learned a thing. When Erlin uncovers a plot to assassinate the prince, the two of them are forced to flee the kingdom. As they travel together, Erlin begins to see potential in the young man as a future king. But their journey is complicated by the arrival of Morrigin, a mysterious woman who confounds Erlin at every turn, causing him to question everything he knows. Deciding that Garth is the best hope for the dark times that have come to Albion, Erlin takes on the impossible task of teaching the prince while leading him through a world more dangerous—and more magical—than he ever wanted to believe. "Readers will love this fast-paced fantasy adventure.” —Kathryn Dare, Portland Book Review "Adam D. Jones is at the height of his comic powers in this delightful retelling!" - Bonnie Wheeler, Arthurian scholar and founding editor of Arthuriana

Synopsis Once & Future by : Amy Rose Capetta
King Arthur as you’ve never seen her! This bold YA novel reimagines the Once and Future King as a queer teenage girl on an epic quest to save the universe. Coming to terms with your identity is always difficult. But for Ari, the 42nd reincarnation of King Arthur, it just got a whole lot more complicated. Gender-bending royalty, caustic wit and a galaxy-wide fight for peace and equality all collide in this epic adventure. With an awkward adolescent Merlin and a rusty spaceship, this is the Arthurian legend as you have never before seen it. ‘A rip-roaring, no holds-barred, gloriously queer reinvention of Arthurian legend.’ Malinda Lo, author of Last Night at the Telegraph Club ‘Utterly compelling, brilliantly witty, and delightfully queer.’ Simon James Green, author of Noah Can't Even

Synopsis The Idiot by : Elif Batuman
A New York Times Book Review Notable Book • Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction • Longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction “Easily the funniest book I’ve read this year.” —GQ “Masterly funny debut novel . . . Erudite but never pretentious, The Idiot will make you crave more books by Batuman.” —Sloane Crosley, Vanity Fair A portrait of the artist as a young woman. A novel about not just discovering but inventing oneself. The year is 1995, and email is new. Selin, the daughter of Turkish immigrants, arrives for her freshman year at Harvard. She signs up for classes in subjects she has never heard of, befriends her charismatic and worldly Serbian classmate, Svetlana, and, almost by accident, begins corresponding with Ivan, an older mathematics student from Hungary. Selin may have barely spoken to Ivan, but with each email they exchange, the act of writing seems to take on new and increasingly mysterious meanings. At the end of the school year, Ivan goes to Budapest for the summer, and Selin heads to the Hungarian countryside, to teach English in a program run by one of Ivan's friends. On the way, she spends two weeks visiting Paris with Svetlana. Selin's summer in Europe does not resonate with anything she has previously heard about the typical experiences of American college students, or indeed of any other kinds of people. For Selin, this is a journey further inside herself: a coming to grips with the ineffable and exhilarating confusion of first love, and with the growing consciousness that she is doomed to become a writer. With superlative emotional and intellectual sensitivity, mordant wit, and pitch-perfect style, Batuman dramatizes the uncertainty of life on the cusp of adulthood. Her prose is a rare and inimitable combination of tenderness and wisdom; its logic as natural and inscrutable as that of memory itself. The Idiot is a heroic yet self-effacing reckoning with the terror and joy of becoming a person in a world that is as intoxicating as it is disquieting. Batuman's fiction is unguarded against both life's affronts and its beauty--and has at its command the complete range of thinking and feeling which they entail. Named one the best books of the year by Refinery29 • Mashable One • Elle Magazine • The New York Times • Bookpage • Vogue • NPR • Buzzfeed •The Millions

Synopsis The Once and Future Witches by : Alix E. Harrow
"A gorgeous and thrilling paean to the ferocious power of women. The characters live, bleed, and roar. "―Laini Taylor, New York Times bestselling author A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Winner of the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel • Named One of the Best Books of the Year by NPR Books • Barnes and Noble • BookPage In the late 1800s, three sisters use witchcraft to change the course of history in this powerful novel of magic, family, and the suffragette movement. In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters―James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna―join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement. Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote―and perhaps not even to live―the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive. There's no such thing as witches. But there will be. An homage to the indomitable power and persistence of women, The Once and Future Witches reimagines stories of revolution, motherhood, and women's suffrage—the lost ways are calling. Praise for The Once and Future Witches: "A glorious escape into a world where witchcraft has dwindled to a memory of women's magic, and three wild, sundered sisters hold the key to bring it back...A tale that will sweep you away."―Yangsze Choo, New York Times bestselling author "This book is an amazing bit of spellcraft and resistance so needed in our times, and a reminder that secret words and ways can never be truly and properly lost, as long as there are tongues to speak them and ears to listen."―P. Djèlí Clark, author The Black God's Drum For more from Alix E. Harrow, check out The Ten Thousand Doors of January.

Synopsis The Once & Future King by : T. H. White
The definitive modern take on the timeless tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. The legends of King Arthur date back to medieval Europe, and have become some of the dominant myths of Western culture. In The Once & Future King, T. H. White reinvents the story for a modern audience. The novel starts by introducing the reader to a young Arthur – just a child, and far from the King he will become – as he is raised by the wizard Merlyn, and moves on to chronicle his rise to Kingship, the affair between Guinevere and Lancelot, and the eventual destruction of the round table. The first section, released independently as The Sword in the Stone, was adapted into an animated film by Walt Disney Pictures. Penguin Random House Canada is proud to bring you classic works of literature in e-book form, with the highest quality production values. Synopsis The Camelot Code: The Once and Future Geek by : Mari Mancusi
"Imagine The Sword in the Stone with a dash of Freaky Friday and a pinch of World of Warcraft--this funny, fast-paced adventure is chicken soup for the geek's soul." -- Zack Clark and Nick Eliopulos, authors of The Adventurers Guild series When young Arthur of Camelot accidentally time-travels to the 21st century and Googles himself, he discovers the not-so-happily ever after in store for him once he pulls the sword from the stone. Yes, he'll go from squire to sovereign basically overnight, but he'll also lose the love of his life to his best friend and eventually die in battle. What's a once-and-future king to do? Easy: stay in the future, where he'll actually have a future--and join the football team instead. Now, with the help of the great wizard Merlin, modern-day gamer-geeks Sophie and Stu find themselves in a race against time to get that sword pulled from the stone and the stubborn soon-to-be-king Arthur back to the past where he belongs.

Synopsis The Once and Future Age by : Joe Richardson
By no means do I think that the mythos I’ve developed is the only one for you. There are many works that get you off commonly accepted paradigms and from these sources you may be able to take a little here and a little there in the search for what personally makes sense. Many of the books and films I deem valuable are cited within this text. But as to why I believe the information encased herein to be important, I must say that what I have seen for explanations of reality outside of my own belief structure still leaves many areas unexamined, so I included a number of sources; perhaps in total they will amount to something greater than their individual parts. Also, in many correct and important theories the ideas I have come in contact with do not go far enough. I see doors that I want to make ajar, windows that I seek to get unstuck; like a whale, I always want to dive deeper. And so my promise to you as the reader is that you’ll have an opportunity to see subjects that you may have thought you knew portrayed in a different light, interpretations coming from a different angle and ideas new to you.
