Synopsis The Mis-Adventures of Judy Sibling by : Gary White

Now, Judy Sibling was a downright mess (but a totally survivable one), and with absolute certainty (at times) an altogether delightful mess at that ! On a good day she might just luck out and put on a matching pair of socks, (and in this book we shall also talk extensively about her not so good days----). But Judy Sibling was a genius at some things, such as lawerin' and finding missing persons. As a down-right awesome sleuth, no equal existed to match her positive percentage regardless of how haphazard her efforts would appear to be to any outside observers. For the complete enjoyment of this exciting story, you need to be informed that Judy Sibling graduated from law school at the rather tender young age of 18, after six years of intensive study at the prestigious Tennvalina University. Judy was by far the youngest (and also the sharpest) student ever to graduate from Tennvalina University and she did so with honors (after being awarded a full scholarship from Realsmart High School), it is fitting to say, the most notable high school in the entire area. Needless to say her family and very many friends were extremely proud of her and all were anxious to see the actual improvements to the world they correctly imagined could happen upon this sharp, attractive little female's exciting entrance into adult-hood----! You are in for many exciting surprises as Judy is constantly getting herself into(and back out of----!) situations you never even dreamed imaginable----! But it had been positively the worst year of Judy Sibling's career. She had desperately tried (but with only a certain degree of success) to defend one of her former high school class mates Henry Strongdorf in a second degree murder trial that simply, absolutely, refused to go their way. The problem was, although Henry had professed to be completely innocent of the matter, the gun allegedly used to commit the murder in question had no doubt been discovered by the state investigators to be under the front seat of poor Henry Strongdorf's pick-up truck, and although Henry's fingerprints were actually never found on the weapon, the barrel of the of the pistol was covered with dried blood that proved to be of the same type as the blood type of the deceased! Helen Riffraf's mutilated body (or, a least what was left of it) had been found at the bottom of a deep ravine about 15 miles from town. Stray dogs had made a point to chew both her ears off and there was but a hole where one of her eyes used to be. Pieces of half-rotten flesh were all that was left to cover her internal organs, while the length of time that the carcass (for quite obvious reasons) remained in that particular location had contributed such a negative impact on the locally surrounding air quality that it had become nearly impossible to breath in the area without noticeably gasping for that non- existent breath of fresh air. (I wonder if the city morgue stinks half as bad) ?

Synopsis The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher by : Dana Alison Levy

”Fans of Beverly Cleary’s Quimbys, Judy Blume’s Hatchers, and, more recently, Jeanne Birdsall’s Penderwicks will fervently hope that more Fletcher misadventures are yet to come.” —School Library Journal, Starred The start of the school year is not going as the Fletcher brothers hoped. Each boy finds his plans for success veering off in unexpected and sometimes diastrous directions. And at home, their miserable new neighbor complains about everything. As the year continues, the boys learn the hard and often hilarious lesson that sometimes what you least expect is what you come to care about the most. Praise for The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher A Junior Library Guild Selection [set star] ”Their banter is realistic, and the disorder of their everyday lives, convincing. The Fletcher family rules!” —Kirkus Reviews, Starred ”Dana Alison Levy has gloriously reimagined the classic family story into a thoroughly modern mold, and it works perfectly.” —Bruce Coville, bestselling author of My Teacher Is an Alien and the Unicorn Chronicles [P1] [set star] ”With its semi-episodic structure, laugh-out-loud humor, and mix of zaniness and love, Levy’s debut offers something truly significant: a middle-grade family story featuring gay parents and interracial families that is never about either issue.” —School Library Journal, Starred ”Levy provides a compelling, compassionate, and frequently hilarious look at their daily concerns. By book’s end readers will want to be part of (or at least friends with) this delightful family.” —The Horn Book

Synopsis The Continuing Misadventures of Rose De France by : Rose Cherie De France

This book is a true journal. Some of the names of people, streets, and places have been changed possibly making this reality based fiction. Written by a scorned woman to keep herself company the journal confronts a double standard and injustice one woman went through and her attempts to heal herself through books and finally action. Strong feelings and sexuality are all aired about the life of a real person. This book is really about a sabotage - a lie that was spread and the ingriedients surrounding this lie. The thread of the book seems to imply a love hate relationship and one person looking back on it to decide which it is. Perhaps she'll never know. Written for herself, published to share; Rose wants to escape to Hawaii which I'm reading of a prophecy by a Dr Walker predicting Hawaii to be a "lighthouse to a world adrift in unpredictable seas." The promise on this cover is that when Rose does make it to Hawaii she will write another and different book!

Synopsis Jungle Fishing Misadventures 1974-2019 by : Stephen Orndorf

For close to 40 years, Steve Orndorf and his brother, Dave, have traveled to the jungles of South America in the pursuit of adventure and trophy fish. While the fishing hasn’t always been productive, there’s been no shortage of adventures. Journeying through seven countries, they’ve encountered logistical nightmares, hostile Indians, and a host of intimidating creatures—piranhas, electric eels, poison dart frogs, vampire bats, caimans, freshwater rays, snakes, bullet ants, and more. The richly biodiverse Amazon and Orinoco River basins have served as backdrops for most of these trips. Here, a brief walk in the jungle can expose one to an astonishing array of different species, more perhaps than would be revealed in a month of walking in most parts of North America. For the Orndorf brothers, sportsfishing has opened the door to exploring this magnificent region, truly one of our planet’s last remaining frontiers.

Synopsis Reading Power, Revised & Expanded Edition by : Adrienne Gear

Ten years ago, Reading Power was launched in an elementary school in Vancouver. It has since evolved into a recognized approach to comprehension instruction being implemented across Canada, in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, and China. This ground-breaking approach showed teachers how to help students think while they read — connect, question, visualize, infer, and transform. Since the publication of the first edition of Reading Power, Adrienne Gear has continued to reflect on and refine her ideas about metacognition, comprehension instruction, and the Reading Power strategies. This revised and expanded edition shares these new understandings, and offers teachers new ideas, new lessons, and, of course, new anchor books to support the Reading Power principles. An ideal resource for teachers familiar to this strategic approach to teaching reading, or for those looking for new ways to connect thinking with reading.
