Synopsis The Many Roads to Baja by : G. B. Hilton
Many roads lead a motorcyclist to Baja, but only a few bring him back. That's the curse of the blessed, sun soaked Peninsula. Once you've experienced the nights and inhaled the smells, once you've listened to the sounds and seen the sights, and once you've ridden the roads and explored the trails, a part of you remains.Author G.B. Hilton didn't know this when he set out on his motorcycle, laden with gear and spares, for a sojourn of unplanned duration that would take him into the heart, dust, heat, and humidity of the Baja Peninsula. But he soon learned that Baja is more than just a destination, it's also a state of mind, one you never truly leave behind. This passionate, humorous, and personal tale is more than a travel story, more than an overland adventure, and more than a paean to a fascinating part of the world. It's also one man's story of escaping his present to discover an unexpected future far from home. With keen observations and vivid writing, Hilton brings adventure motorcycling and the people and places of the Baja Peninsula to life. The result is much like the book itself: moving, poignant, funny, and unforgettable.

Synopsis Baja California Adventures by : Froylan Tiscareño
The stories featured in Baja California Adventures take place during a span of almost sixty years of travel in the rugged, parched, yet hauntingly attractive peninsula. The author kept detailed notes on most of his trips then fleshed out this skeleton in a narrative that places the reader in the role of participant in the adventure. Thus, one feels the bite of the 4WD tires into the desert sand, newly hard-packed by the moisture of a quick-moving thunderstorm. The author describes the excitement of finding Indian petroglyphs, arrowheads, or clay ollas in remote canyons. Because Mr. Tiscareo is also a pilot, many of the trips included here involve mention of the special immigration rules for private fly-in tourists. Finally, there are Baja adventures in the pine-clad granite fortress that is the Sierra de San Pedro Mrtir in the northern part of the peninsula. Here, the author joined other veteran Bajeos in hoof-and-boot or horse-assisted explorations. In short, this book should be inspiration to those readers who want to visit Baja California, particularly the less tourist-trod destinations. Armchair travelers will derive vicarious pleasure without the effort of going there themselves.

Synopsis Bend to Baja by : Jeff Johnson
Bend to Baja documents a surf-inspired road trip along the West Coast of North America. In February 2005, a group of world-renowned surfers left Ventura, California, for Bend, Oregon. From Oregon, the crew worked its way south to the tip of Baja, looking for waves and traveling in a pickup truck converted to run on alternative fuel sources: veggie oil and biodiesel. Jeff Johnson, along with Chris, Keith, and Dan Malloy, experienced a road trip centered on surfing, climbing, and camping. Along the way, they met an array of characters, found rich, road-weathered experiences, and endured setbacks, all against the backdrop of a captivating ocean. Bend to Baja chronicles their journey and a nontraditional lifestyle centered on the search for waves.
