Synopsis The Jesus Passages by : Ron Gannett
You are the author of The Jesus Passages, a study guide and journal tracing the chronological events in the life of Christ as found in the Bible. Broken into three simple sections, The Jesus Passages reveals how Jesus lived, loved, and dealt with social issues. It challenges you with comments and questions from the author, then sets you free to write what the passages are saying to you. Sharpen your pencil and open up the book-there is so much God wants to teach you in The Jesus Passages. You will appreciate having your thoughts on paper to review and look back on later in life. Your family will enjoy reading your thoughts to learn what Jesus spoke to you during your studies and they'll treasure passing your journal on through the generations. Author and pastor Ron Gannet (Community Church at SaddleBrooke, near Tuscon, AZ) has been preaching and teaching for almost forty years in Texas, Canada, Alabama, and Arizona. Over the years he has discovered that people have more passion for truth if they discover it themselves. So he compiled this study to unleash the thirst many people have to know Jesus personally. Whether used as an individual study, family devotion, or in a small group setting, you will gain fresh insight into topics such as forgiveness, money, family, relationships, facing criticism, and more. Many people claim the Christian faith but have never taken time to know Jesus and His story. Study the verses. Allow the Lord to speak to you. Write down what He says, and see how Jesus speaks into your life and empowers you each day.

Synopsis The Jesus Sayings by : Rex Weyler
Is it possible to reconcile Jesus, the Prince of Peace, with religious violence? From the Inquisition to the burning of women healers to modern pedophilia scandals, spiritual leaders and followers are deeply divided about how to reconcile the teachings of Jesus with the atrocities of church history. How did his message get misinterpreted, and what relevance does that message have in the 21st century? Here, critically acclaimed author and social historian Rex Weyler explores the mystery surrounding the historical Jesus, whose voice and words have been distorted by centuries of revision. By examining the research of international Bible scholars and some 200 ancient sources, including the recently discovered Gospels of Thomas and Mary, Weyler recreates the life of Jesus and his legacy, from the Roman Empire to the present day. Combining popular history with modern scholarship, The Jesus Sayings is a revelatory and highly readable work that entertains, inspires, and enlightens.

Synopsis Misquoting Jesus by : Bart D. Ehrman
When world-class biblical scholar Bart Ehrman first began to study the texts of the Bible in their original languages he was startled to discover the multitude of mistakes and intentional alterations that had been made by earlier translators. In Misquoting Jesus, Ehrman tells the story behind the mistakes and changes that ancient scribes made to the New Testament and shows the great impact they had upon the Bible we use today. He frames his account with personal reflections on how his study of the Greek manuscripts made him abandon his once ultraconservative views of the Bible. Since the advent of the printing press and the accurate reproduction of texts, most people have assumed that when they read the New Testament they are reading an exact copy of Jesus's words or Saint Paul's writings. And yet, for almost fifteen hundred years these manuscripts were hand copied by scribes who were deeply influenced by the cultural, theological, and political disputes of their day. Both mistakes and intentional changes abound in the surviving manuscripts, making the original words difficult to reconstruct. For the first time, Ehrman reveals where and why these changes were made and how scholars go about reconstructing the original words of the New Testament as closely as possible. Ehrman makes the provocative case that many of our cherished biblical stories and widely held beliefs concerning the divinity of Jesus, the Trinity, and the divine origins of the Bible itself stem from both intentional and accidental alterations by scribes -- alterations that dramatically affected all subsequent versions of the Bible.

Synopsis The Bible By Jesus by : Elmer Towns
This is a paraphrase of the scriptures, based on the Gospels, that is different than anything youve ever read before. I am the narrator and you are walking in My footsteps as I tell you the story of My birth, ministry, death, and resurrection. This book is written to show different aspects from My life on earth. You will learn about My sermons, My miracles, and how I showed love to people. You will learn about the disciples who followed Me, and the millions of people whose lives were changed. You will learn how to live on earth, and how to come to Me in heaven. You can have confidence because I promised, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You can absolutely trust in the things that are taught in My Word, so study it carefully to know what you must do and how you must live. Jesus Jesus talked directly to my heart through this Bible. As I read its pages, it was like walking and talking with Jesus. No one else was there, just the two of us. I believe God will use this Bible to get multitudes to listen to Him and follow Him. Jentezen Franklin Senior Pastor, Free Chapel Author of NY Times Best Seller, Fasting About Me: From the beginning I am called the Word. So I, with My Father, and the Holy Spirit, inspired human authors to write the messages in the Bible. Read it with confidence because it is inspired and authoritative. It contains all you need to know to be saved and how to live for Me. Jesus

Synopsis What Did Jesus Look Like? by : Joan E. Taylor
Jesus Christ is arguably the most famous man who ever lived. His image adorns countless churches, icons, and paintings. He is the subject of millions of statues, sculptures, devotional objects and works of art. Everyone can conjure an image of Jesus: usually as a handsome, white man with flowing locks and pristine linen robes. But what did Jesus really look like? Is our popular image of Jesus overly westernized and untrue to historical reality? This question continues to fascinate. Leading Christian Origins scholar Joan E. Taylor surveys the historical evidence, and the prevalent image of Jesus in art and culture, to suggest an entirely different vision of this most famous of men. He may even have had short hair.
