Synopsis The Furys of Capistrano by : Jeanette Sparks
Erin Fury has helped countless people with her ranch and she isn't about to give it up without a fight. The Furys board and rescue horses while giving riding lessons to disabled children. But their lease is up and if it isn't renewed by the college that owns their land, they will lose everything. Jordan Archer, the dashing new college president, has plans to build dormitories on their land instead. They are total opposites--Jordan is highly educated and self-possessed; Erin is the earth mother who dropped out of college and enjoys doing good for others. Conflict is inevitable and the opinionated, passionate horsewoman meets her match in the rational and cool president. As Erin tries to make Jordan see what he would destroy she finds herself enjoying their time together and trusting him more. Soon, their burgeoning feelings puts Jordan's job on the line and he must decide between his feelings for Erin and his prestigious position at the university.

Synopsis Capistrano by : Merlin T. Williams
This is a story for the Baby Boom generation and for their progeny as well. This is a tale for anyone who has wistfully dreamed of personal fulfillment. For those who contemplate the shedding of the shackles of conformity, of repetitive task completion, of living to satisfy the expectations of others, Michael Campbell is a man well worth meeting. Michael defi nes his own, Castle in Spain , his statement of individual dream fulfillment and he works tirelessly to achieve it. Michael s singular focus becomes a beacon to others. Some raft together with him to his immense benefit while others become steadfast in their attempts to sink him. Capistrano, a club for gentlemen in the heart of Metro Manila, rises to become the premier night spot in a city famous for its ability to gratify the nocturnal, nefarious desires of those who enjoy the embrace of business success. And those, as well, in sequined splendor, whose agenda it is to satisfy those needs, to achieve their own goals. Capistrano is, in microcosm, South East Asia in the late 1980 s. At once a bastion of sensual overload, it houses the unholy alliance of those with means and those who trade in their desires. Capistrano will make you laugh out loud, it will make you cry, and, in the process make you think about your own present and what possibilities lie untapped within.

Synopsis The Mark of Zorro (The Curse of Capistrano) by : Johnston McCulley
The Mark of Zorro (The Curse of Capistrano) - Johnston McCulley - The Curse of Capistrano is a 1919 novella by Johnston McCulley and the first work to feature the fictional character Zorro (zorro is the Spanish word for fox). After the enormous success of the 1920 film adaptation, The Mark of Zorro, the story was republished under that name. Prior to being published in novella form, The Curse of Capistrano appeared as five serialized installments in the pulp magazine All-Story Weekly. The masked avenger immortalized by countless films began as pulp fiction in 1919. The dashing hero Zorro first appeared in Johnston McCulley's story, "The Curse of Capriano", serialized in the American pulp magazine Argosy, later republished as a novella in 1924 as "The Mark of Zorro". Set in Spanish Colonial California, Zorro moonlights as a robin-hood like adventurer, saving the oppressed from the tyrannical hands in power. This iconic outlaw has weaved his way deeply into popular culture through countless iterations in film and literature. Armed with a rapier and mounted on a black horse, Zorro deftly maneuvers through the crime ridden streets of old southern California to, "avenge the helpless, to punish cruel politicians", and "to aid the oppressed." Charged with thrills and mystery, "The Mark of Zorro" is the story that started it all. A classic tale of roguish activism, this enigmatic hero continues to delight generations of readers.

Synopsis Wonderful Blood by : Caroline Walker Bynum
Bynum argues that Christ's blood as both object and symbol was central to late medieval art, literature, and religious life. As cult object, blood provided a focus of theological debate about the nature of matter, body, and God and an occasion for Jewish persecution; as motif, blood became a central symbol in popular devotion.
