Excerpt from Cincinnati Southern Railway: The Ferguson Railway Act, Views of the Press The Joint Committee composed of committees appointed by the "City Council," the "Board of Trade," and the "Chamber of Commerce," of the City of Cincinnati, present to the Legislature of Ohio, the following Bill, enabling cities of the first-class to construct such works of internal improvement as may be deemed essential to their welfare The Bill referred to is popularly known as the Ferguson Railroad Bill, and has been very fully discussed by the people and press of the State. The Committee have taken the liberty of accompanying it with such remarks from the press of Cincinnati, as have appeared from time to time, which indicates a unanimity of sentiment relative to the necessity and importance of the construction of a Railroad, connecting Cincinnati directly with the Southern system of Railroads that has rarely, if ever; been manifested in reference to any other subject.
