Synopsis Institutions and the Evolution of Modern Business by : Mark Casson
The nine contributions in this volume attempt to demonstrate the applications of institutional theory to business history and show how the wider study of the institutional environment is inseparable from the study of business. Contributions include an evaluation of community structure and competitive advantage within the Yorkshire woolen industry; a comparative view of financial reconstruction and industrial reorganization in British and Swedish institutions during the Inter-War period; and post- war strategic capitalism in Norway. Synopsis Anand Panyarachun and the Making of Modern Thailand by : Dominic Faulder
Based on hundreds of interviews, this is the absorbing story of one of Thailand's most influential figures. Against a backdrop of political coups and violence, Cold War intrigue, and regional conflict, Anand Panyarachun reached the pinnacle of Thailand's foreign service, and twice served as an unelected prime minister. Throughout his varied life, his frankness and integrity set him apart, traits that derailed his diplomatic career entirely at one point, but then led him to become the international face of a country that has encountered frequent crises.
