Synopsis The Classic Female Nude by : Paul Moore

Approximately 60 pages with 55 sepia toned images. This work is ENTIRELY pictorial. Contains artistic nudity - For ADULTS ONLY This work is a study of the female nude in a classical form. It is ideal for those wishing to expand their knowledge of an artistic presentation of the female nude. For those who are interested in such things, all the images in this book were created with a Mamiya RB67 camera and 50, 90, and 127MM lenses. All images were shot using Ilford Delta iso 3200 film to enhance the grain and precessed in D-76 developer. The author began photography and photo-journalism in early 1963 when he accepted an offer from his local newspaper to write about and photograph sports events at the Arizona high school where he was a junior. After a stint in the service, he had an opportunity to study photography and printing techniques with Bernard Hoffman, a true gentleman and scholar, and one of the earliest staff photographers for Life Magazine. Since that time he has had thousands of photographs and hundreds of articles published by more than 60 national and international periodicals. He was also a contributing editor for one of them for more than ten years. Topics ran the gamut from professional sports, medicine, archeology, and photography to science. After twenty years away from Arizona he returned in 1985 and it has been the base from which all his photographic excursions are launched. Along with many others he has embraced digital photography but can still be seen, from time to time, peering through the ground glass of a large format camera, hoisting a large medium format 6x7, or indeed still using a 35mm film camera. The photographer currently has fine art photography on exhibit at The Center for Fine Arts in Globe, Arizona, and is currently represented by more than ten stock photo agencies where he has more than 13,000 photographs available for commercial use.

Synopsis True Confessions of Nude Photography by : A. K. Nicholas

A Step-by-Step Guide to Recruiting Beautiful Models, Lighting, Photographing Nudes, Post-Processing Images, and Maybe Even Getting Paid to Do It. (third edition) Prior experience with nude models is not required to benefit from this how-to guide. This guide can be enjoyed by anyone, but is written for two main audiences: the accomplished photographer wanting insight from a peer, and the serious amateur wanting a guided introduction to the field. The female body has been an inspiration for artists since before the invention of photography. Naturally, nudes were one of the first subjects of photography as well. Although the guide covers the basics of nude photography, it is assumed that you have a digital camera that is more advanced than a point-and-shoot and that you already understand the basics of operating your camera. This book deals with female models. You won't find male models or advice on photographing non-models in this book. Finding Models: Nude photography entails more than just photographic technique, there is a huge interpersonal element; much more so than in any other kind of people photography. The guide addresses everything from finding models, to working with them long term. Most guides on photographic technique assume you've already found a willing model. This one assumes that you're having trouble - or at least having trouble finding a model that you feel takes your work to the next level. It contains techniques for finding and recruiting models. Techniques: A range of processes are explained step-by-step. You'll find more than just a selection of photos and a dissection of each; you'll see full lighting diagrams as well as frank discussions of techniques and pitfalls in the days and weeks leading up to making a nude image. From finding your first nude model to selling your first nude photo, the guide presents complete, concise instruction on lighting, posing, and-post processing with Photoshop.

Synopsis Photographing the Female Form with Digital Infrared by : Laurie Klein

Photographing female nudes is about more than just the body. For Laurie Klein, it is about capturing the feminine spirit. Laurie’s creative medium is nature. The landscape plays as much of a role in her photos as does the model. Laurie's unique way of using infrared photography, and the caring, personal way she captures her subject's innermost emotions becomes a transformational experience for both photographer and client. In this book, Klein details her techniques and her inspirations in creating these unforgettable images. Shooting nudes in nature is complex. The photographer needs to know when to start with the model and arrange nature around them or see something in nature and treat the model as part of the nature. Klein gives many ideas for posing models in relationship to nature and the landscape. She masterfully uses infrared photography to capture the beauty of the surroundings and the female form. Each photo in the book is accompanied by details of the location or setting, camera settings, composition concepts and insight into the idea and execution of the shot. Part of what makes Klein’s photos so unique and vibrant is that she develops a trusting environment that allows the subject to give themselves over completely to a transcendent photographic experience. Out of this usually comes a series of fine art portraits or a substantial book for them to enjoy, share and pass on through the generations. Using the body as a landscape, Klein crafts unique and sometimes abstract images that emphasize the beauty of the female form in different ways. Sometimes the simplicity of the image is the beauty of it. The infrared photography format provides striking contrasts between the skin tones and the natural surroundings. Tips are given for choosing unique locations that can work best for creating artful images like the ones in the book. Being able to improvise and set-up a shoot when discovering a unique setting or lighting scenario can be the key to crafting a stunning portrait. Sometimes the unexpected can occur and a prepared and creative photographer can turn that into a magical moment captured in infrared. Klein is recognized for her signature infrared photography style. This book provides in insight into her creative process.

Synopsis The Digital Closet by : Alexander Monea

An exploration of how heteronormative bias is deeply embedded in the internet, hidden in algorithms, keywords, content moderation, and more. A Next Big Idea Club nominee. In The Digital Closet, Alexander Monea argues provocatively that the internet became straight by suppressing everything that is not, forcing LGBTQIA+ content into increasingly narrow channels—rendering it invisible through opaque algorithms, automated and human content moderation, warped keywords, and other strategies of digital overreach. Monea explains how the United States’ thirty-year “war on porn” has brought about the over-regulation of sexual content, which, in turn, has resulted in the censorship of much nonpornographic content—including material on sex education and LGBTQIA+ activism. In this wide-ranging, enlightening account, Monea examines the cultural, technological, and political conditions that put LGBTQIA+ content into the closet. Monea looks at the anti-porn activism of the alt-right, Christian conservatives, and anti-porn feminists, who became strange bedfellows in the politics of pornography; investigates the coders, code, and moderators whose work serves to reify heteronormativity; and explores the collateral damage in the ongoing war on porn—the censorship of LGBTQ+ community resources, sex education materials, art, literature, and other content that engages with sexuality but would rarely be categorized as pornography by today’s community standards. Finally, he examines the internet architectures responsible for the heteronormalization of porn: Google Safe Search and the data structures of tube sites and other porn platforms. Monea reveals the porn industry’s deepest, darkest secret: porn is boring. Mainstream porn is stuck in a heteronormative filter bubble, limited to the same heteronormative tropes, tagged by the same heteronormative keywords. This heteronormativity is mirrored by the algorithms meant to filter pornographic content, increasingly filtering out all LGBTQIA+ content. Everyone suffers from this forced heteronormativity of the internet—suffering, Monea suggests, that could be alleviated by queering straightness and introducing feminism to dissipate the misogyny.

Synopsis The Nude Matured: Body and Spirit by : Judith Monteferrante

The Nude Matured: Body and Spirit explores the hidden beauty of aging and the soft sophistication of the beautiful older woman, accepting and often celebrating her desirability in this image-driven age of unachievable perfection. As part of her master's thesis in the MPS Digital Photography program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, photographer Judith Monteferrante collaborated with women over the age of fifty to explore their comfort with aging and the beauty of their bodies. Her evocative, rich images capture the enigma, attraction, mood, and beauty of her subjects with an artistic passion and delicate meticulous eye. This updated edition shares the thoughts and emotions felt by these women during this project. As one woman stated, "I left with the feeling that I had been a participant in something meaningful." This collection presents a series of photographs of women over fifty, embracing the beauty and complexities of the mature female nude figure.
