Synopsis The Devil in Ms. Vicious by : Lisa M. Caldwell

Dancing in the chasm between resignedly annoyed and agonized; as if The Virgin Mary herself carried the cross while Jesus consorted with prostitutes, Lisa Vicious shouts down blasphemy with iconic blasphemy. Just as the young girl dreams of her knight, Miss Vicious dreams of dates with sanity and reason in the honestly, astutely, subtitled Bipolar Fairytales. She is angry, yet graciously allows her indignities to smear these pages...

Synopsis The Rainbow by : D. H. Lawrence

"Set in the rural Midlands of England, The Rainbow (1915) revolves around three generations of the Brangwens, a strong, vigorous family, deeply involved with the land. When Tom Brangwen marries a Polish widow, Lydia Lensky, and adopts her daughter Anna as his own, he is unprepared for the passion that erupts between them. All are seeking individual fulfillment, but it is Ursula, Anna's spirited daughter, who, in her search for self-knowledge, rejects the traditional role of womanhood." "In his introduction, James Wood discusses Lawrence's writing style and the tensions and themes of The Rainbow. This Penguin edition reproduces the Cambridge text, which provides a text as close as possible to Lawrence's original. It also includes suggested further reading, a fragment of 'The Sisters II' from his first draft, and chronologies of Lawrence's life and of The Rainbow's Brangwen family."--BOOK JACKET.

Synopsis Savage's Woman by : Loki Renard

Over the past few years, smart mouthed savant Zora Matthews has been kidnapped, incarcerated, soundly spanked, and forced to work for both the government and rogue mercenary forces alike. It's been a rough ride for the independent and oh so rebellious brat who bows to no man - save one. Now she's free, and finally with the hard nosed military man who started the whole troublesome saga by snatching her out of her life and putting her firmly over his knee. As long as they keep their heads down, they can live a normal life - or so they think. It turns out that being normal is much more difficult than either Zora or Savage anticipated. When the military discovers their location and Zora and Savage must leave their simple life go on the run one last time, she can't help but notice that he doesn't seem to mind too much. Whilst hiding, Zora has to face the issues they've both been avoiding. Can they ever run far enough to escape the government? And does Savage really want to? In the fast paced, hard hitting conclusion to the Military Discipline series, Zora and Savage must face the ultimate obstacles to their love - themselves.

G. Wells. Originally serialised in Pearson's Weekly in 1897, it was published as a novel now. The Invisible Man to whom the title refers is Griffin, a scientist who has devoted himself to research into optics and who invents a way to change a body's refractive index to that of air so that it neither absorbs nor reflects light. He carries out this procedure on himself and renders himself invisible, but fails in his attempt to reverse it. A practitioner of random and irresponsible violence, Griffin has become an iconic character in horror fiction. While its predecessors, The Time Machine and The Island of Doctor Moreau, were written using first-person narrators, Wells adopts a third-person objective point of view in The Invisible Man. The novel is considered influential, and helped establish Wells as the "father of science fiction".

Synopsis Operation Devil Horns by : Michael Santini

Special Agent Michael Santini offers an inside account of the takedown of MS-13 in San Francisco—one of the largest federal takedowns of a criminal gang in U.S. history. In a bid to take down MS-13’s criminal network in the Mission District of San Francisco, Michael Santini, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations, recruits a pair of hardened gang members and convinces them to risk their lives as criminal informants. Set in a city with one of the strictest sanctuary policies protecting illegal immigrants in America, Operation Devil Horns illustrates how politically correct ideology impacts life-or-death crime fighting on the streets. Through the informants’ eyes, Operation Devil Horns offers a rare glimpse into the pervasive criminal subculture of MS-13, a gang of Spanish-speaking immigrants that still terrorizes pockets of American society today – including their own compatriots. The case begins with a focus on the gang in San Francisco, eventually widening to include a network that reaches across borders. Santini tracks down the gang’s leadership from the Bay Area to the prison cells of corrupt Central American regimes. Eventually, it takes the cold-blooded murder of three family members in San Francisco to shake the American public out of complacency and focus sober attention on a growing and violent threat. This is the story of a dedicated team of special agents, federal prosecutors, and local police who overcome political and legal challenges to take down more than two dozen violent criminal targets.
