The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from March 15 through December 17, 1989. At the end of the first week in March Brother Lee traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, and remained there until the end of the third week in March. He then visited Quezon City, Philippines, and Taichung and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, before returning to Taipei at the beginning of April. He remained in Taipei until the end of the third week in April and then visited Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo, Japan, before returning to Anaheim, California, in the middle of May. At the end of the third week in May Brother Lee visited Cleveland, Ohio, and Newton and Cambridge, Massachusetts, until the end of the first week in June. At that time he returned to Anaheim and remained there until the end of 1989. The contents of this volume are divided into twelve sections, as follows: 1. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1990, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from February 10 through December 21, 1990. During the first three months of 1990 Brother Lee was in Anaheim, California. In early April he traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, and at the end of that month he visited Hualien, Taiwan. He returned to Anaheim in the first part of May and remained there until the end of the third week in August. During that time he visited Long Beach, California. At the end of August Brother Lee visited San Francisco, San Jose, and Berkeley, California. In early September he returned to Anaheim and remained there until the middle of October. During that period he briefly visited San Diego and San Bernardino, California. In the middle of October Brother Lee traveled to the Far East and remained there until the first part of November. During that period he visited Taipei and then Kota Kinabalu, Sibu, Kuching, and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. In the middle of November he returned to Anaheim and remained there until the end of the year. The contents of this volume are divided into fifteen sections, as follows: 1. Eight messages given in Anaheim, California, on February 10 through May 19. This book presents a vision of Christ and the church. It then goes on the emphasize the need to experience this Christ as the Spirit in our spirit and to practice the church life on the ground of oneness.

In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from August 29 through December 16, 1989. Brother Lee spent the last half of 1989 in Anaheim, California. The contents of this volume are divided into two sections, as follows: 1. Thirty-two messages given in Anaheim, California, on August 29 through December 15. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Experience and Growth in Life and are included in this volume under the same title. Two of the thirty-two messages were combined. 2. Thirty-one messages given in Anaheim, California, on August 30 through December 16. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Exercise and Practice of the God-ordained Way.

When God created man, He placed him before two trees: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. In warning man to avoid the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God indicated His desire for man to eat of the tree of life, signifying that man should receive God as his life supply. Witness Lee unveils in The Tree of Life that God is not looking for well-behaved Christians; He is looking for those who will experience and enjoy Christ as the reality of the tree of life.

"In God's dispensation and economy, the leading ministry is the priesthood. In this universe God has an administration, a divine economy. His economy is the way He arranges or dispenses. Therefore, it is a kind of dispensation. According to the Bible there are three main ministries in God's divine dispensation: the priesthood, the kingship, and the prophethood. The priesthood is the leading ministry of the three and brings the kingship and prophethood into function. In other words, both the kingship and the prophethood depend upon the leading ministry of the priesthood."

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989, volume 1, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from January 1 through November 21, 1989. In 1989 Brother Lee spoke fifty-two messages that were published in the Life-study of Numbers. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. Brother Lee remained in Irving, Texas, during the first part of January 1989. He returned to Anaheim, California, in the second week of January and remained there until the end of the third week. At the end of the month he visited Hacienda Heights and San Diego, California, and returned to Anaheim in the beginning of February. From the second week in February through the end of the month he visited San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Pleasant Hill, Berkeley, and San Gabriel, California, before returning to Anaheim. At the end of the first week in March Brother Lee traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, and remained there until the end of the third week in March. He then visited Quezon City, Philippines, and Taichung and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, before returning to Taipei at the beginning of April. He remained in Taipei until the end of the third week in April and then visited Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo, Japan, before returning to Anaheim in the middle of May.
