Synopsis The Convalescent Home of the Children's Hospital at Wellesley Hills, Mass: For the Year 1935 (Classic Reprint) by : Children's Hospital at Wellesley Hills

Excerpt from The Convalescent Home of the Children's Hospital at Wellesley Hills, Mass: For the Year 1935 Eighteen nursemaids graduated this autumn after one year of training. Candidates are received from all over New England, preference being given to High School graduates. Besides the physical care of infants and children up to the age of twelve, they are taught plain sewing, washing, and simple games to play with children. These girls are placed after graduation and kept track of afterwards. We have had greater demand from private families than we can supply, and m most cases the enthusiastic comments received from employers after girls have been in their service for a length of time have been gratifying. We feel that we are offering the public the best type of intelligent young' American women adequately trained for their work. Visitors are always welcome at the Home, and we wish that more people could See for themselves what this charity means to these unfortunate children. We are very grateful to all who have shown their appreciation of our work, and I wish especially to mention three magnificent gifts that came to us this year: ten thousand dollars from Mrs. Henry S. Hunnewell, who for over. Twenty years was our secretary, and whose interest in the Home has never waned; one thousand dollars. From Mrs. George E. Synopsis The Convalescent Home of the Children's Hospital at Wellesley Hills, Mass., for the Year 1931 (Classic Reprint) by : Massachusetts Children's Hospital

Excerpt from The Convalescent Home of the Children's Hospital at Wellesley Hills, Mass., For the Year 1931 Like all charities, we are beginning to feel the falling-off of donations and large gifts this past year; but we are con fident that, Our friends will not let our work. Become lessefficient for these deserving little children.-in spite Of the hard times, we are indeed grateful to many Individuals and o-r ganizations for making the past year so happy and comfort able for the children I wish it were possible In this report to mention each and all, but that 1s not practical. We are es pecially grateful for the interest shown by Wellesley citi zens, Wellesley churches, and the Junior Service League of Wellesley. The American legio-nmposts Of both Needham and Wellesley have been most helpful-1a group of employees from the tu Hancock Life Insurance Company added greatly to the pleasure of the children, as they gave a play and many toys at Christmas time.
