Candidates are received from all over New England, preference being given to High School graduates. Besides the physical care of infants and children up to the age of twelve, they are taught plain sewing, washing, and simple games to play with children. These girls are placed after graduation and kept track of afterwards. We have had greater demand from private families than we can supply, and m most cases the enthusiastic comments received from employers after girls have been in their service for a length of time have been gratifying. We feel that we are offering the public the best type of intelligent young' American women adequately trained for their work. For the Year 1928 As usual, the Managers, with many volunteer helpers, have met every Tuesday morning during the winter to cut out thousands Of garments and household articles, which are given later to benevolent societies to be made up for use in the Hospital and Home. Visitors are always welcome at the Home, and we wish that more people could See for themselves what this charity means to these unfortunate children. We are very grateful to all who have shown their appreciation of our work, and I wish especially to mention three magnificent gifts that came to us this year: ten thousand dollars from Mrs. Henry S. Hunnewell, who for over. Twenty years was our secretary, and whose interest in the Home has never waned; one thousand dollars. From Mrs. George E. Cabot, in memory of her son, the money to be used to re-equip our two main wards with new beds; and five hundred dollars from Miss Mabel Louise Riley of Newton.
