Synopsis The Chemistry of Organic Silicon Compounds, 2 Volume Set by : Saul Patai

The most complete resource in functional group chemistry Patai's Chemistry of Functional Groups is one of chemistry's landmark book series in organic chemistry. An indispensible resource for the organic chemist, this is the most comprehensive reference available in functional group chemistry. Founded in 1964 by the late Professor Saul Patai, the aim of Patai's Chemistry of Functional Groups is to cover all the aspects of the chemistry of an important functional group in each volume, with the emphasis not only on the functional group but on the whole molecule.

Synopsis The Chemistry of Organic Silicon Compounds, Volume 2, Parts 1, 2, & 3 (3-Part Set). by : Zvi Rappoport

Organosilicon compounds are key organometallic compounds (R-Si) which have many uses in materials science and in metallurgy. Their applications include the synthesis of sugars and in the synthesis of organic compounds for the pharmaceutical industry. This volume will contain both updated chapters on key topics included in the original volumes as well as a number of new chapters reflecting the rapid developments made in silicon chemistry and its applications to organometallic chemistry, materials science, and semiconductors, over the last five years. As for the majority of volumes in this serie.

Synopsis The Chemistry of Organic Silicon Compounds, Volume 3 by : Zvi Rappoport

Complementing the six volumes already published in Patai'sChemistry of the Functional Groups series this title covers topicsnot previously updated in the set. Written by key researchers in the field it includes more practicalchapters and industrial examples than before as well as additionalmaterial. There is a strong emphasis on "Poly" derivatives of variousclasses of silicon compounds as well as a chapter on silicon inmodern high-technology. These supplement the "practical" parts ofearlier volumes and enhance past material. * Continues with the high standard expected of the series * Complement to the 3 volume set of the chemistry of organicsilicon compounds published in 1998 * Updates content from previous volumes and includes chapters ontheory and silicon based radicals that are of theoretical andpractical importance * An invaluable reference source to organic chemists working inacademia and industry * Includes many more industrial examples than previous titles inthe series This volume complements the main volumes, with little overlap, andensures the functional group series continues its superiority inthe silicon field. This volume is now available in electronic format from BooksOnline.

Synopsis The Chemistry of Organogold Compounds, 2 Volume Set by : Zvi Rappoport

The first book in the PATAI Series was published in 1964 and the Series will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2014. This "Golden Jubilee" is accompanied by the publication of the first volume on the chemistry of organogold. In the history of the PATAI Series there was, so far, no volume dedicated to gold alone. In 1999 we published a volume on The Chemistry of Gold and Silver Compounds. Since then a lot of new chemistry using gold has been developed and it is timely to focus a volume on methods and applications of organogold compounds in organic synthesis, reflecting the enormous progress which has been made in the use of gold compounds as reagents and catalysts. A second area of great importance covered in the book is the use of gold surfaces in the synthesis of peptides, proteins and other natural products. A whole range of applications in the area of biochemistry has resulted from these developments. A third area of interest is the synthesis and engineering of nanostructures, where organogold chemistry has opened the door for a wide range of methods and applications in the field of nanoscience and materials science. As with all new volumes, the chapters are first published online in Patai's Chemistry of Functional Groups. Once a volume is completed online, it is then published in print format. The printed book offers the traditional quality of the Patai Book Series, complete with an extensive index.
