Synopsis The Alabaster Roses by : PHK Schoeffner

It begins with three siblings and his elder cousin, being in a wood where there are some strange black flowers. Their cousin told them the legend of the magician Schoenboeck, who brought those flowers with their curse: who smells one of those flowers will fall in a deep dream. The only cure that exists is some kind of roses that only the magician owns: alabaster roses that keep deeply in his castle Drachrosenstein. Unfortunately, the smallest sister, that is about six years old, caught some of those flowers when the others were not looking at her and fall in a deep dream and nobody was able to awake her. The other two brothers decide to look for that alabaster rose and get into a new world, a magic new world where there was given a locket by the old man that meet at the entrance gate. That locket owns the magician and they need it to get to Schoenboeck, the Dragons Master. If they need help, they can use the locket to get some. But they have to keep carefully the locket because, if they lose it, they will not be able to get Schoenboecks castle and nobody is going to give them another one. Gorkievich, the dark magician, wants to get that locket in order to invade the whole magician world and get it under his dark control. Therefore, he will try his best to get it from the children. Both siblings will get in a magic adventure with dragons, deserts, woods, caves, mirrors, labyrinths and all kind of characters. The way is not going to be easy

Synopsis Breaking the Alabaster Jar by : Li-Young Lee

In the foreword to Li-Young Lee’s first book, Rose (BOA Editions, 1986), Gerald Stern wrote, “What characterizes Li-Young Lee’s poetry is a certain kind of humility, a kind of cunning, a love of plain speech, a search for wisdom and understanding. . . . I think we are in the presence of a true spirit.” Poetry lovers agree! Rose has gone on to sell more than eighty thousand copies, and Li-Young Lee has become one of the country’s most beloved poets. Breaking the Alabaster Jar: Conversations with Li-Young Lee is a collection of the best dozen interviews given by Li-Young Lee over the past twenty years. From a twenty-nine-year-old poet prodigy to a seasoned veteran in high demand for readings and appearances across the United States and abroad, these interviews capture Li-Young Lee at various stages of his artistic development. He not only discusses his family’s flight from political oppression in China and Indonesia, but how that journey affected his poetry and the engaging, often painful, insights being raised a cultural outsider in America afforded him. Other topics include spirituality (primarily Christianity and Buddhism) and a wide range of aesthetic topics such as literary influences, his own writing practices, the role of formal and informal education in becoming a writer, and his current life as a famous and highly sought-after American poet.

Synopsis The Rose Bride by : Nancy Holder

"Once upon a Time" Is Timeless When Rose's mother dies, her only comfort is the exquisite rose garden her mother left behind. The purple blossoms serve as an assurance of her mother's love. But Rose is dealt a second blow when her father dies and his greedy widow, Ombrine, and her daughter, Desirée, move in and take over the manor in true Cinderella fashion. Fate has been cruel to Ombrine and Desirée, too. So despite their harsh ways, Rose has compassion. But these feelings are bitterly tested when, in a rage, Ombrine tears out the garden. Rose nearly gives up all hope -- until a chance meeting with the king. Happiness might be within her reach, but first she must prevail over Ombrine. And then she must determine if she has the courage to love.
