I created Myrtle the Talking Turtle as a throwback of names not very common anymore. I hope the reader enjoys this magical adventure story as well as the sequel series to follow!

Fact 1: Sea turtles are strong swimmers. They have long paddle-like flippers to help them power their bodies through water. Some can reach speeds up to twenty-two miles per hour when frightened. Sea turtles enjoy traveling, and some sea turtles can travel over ten thousand miles every year. How excited Myrtle was to live in the ocean with all the motion, glide with the waves, and enjoy her days. Suddenly Myrtle encountered something along the way... Fact 2: Some turtle species are herbivorous; they only eat plants. Others are carnivores; they consume meat, like crab, shrimp, snails, and jellyfish. Then there are the omnivorous ones; they eat both plants and meat. Myrtle and Scout were having fun, traveling the ocean current. They had no doubt that friends would be made along the way. For kindness is the only way! They were happy as they went when they saw something down below. Grumble, rumble, roar! "What is that sound? Could that be me? I'm hungry," said Myrtle. "Without a doubt!" Scout replied. "But first let's explore the movement below and go very, very slow."

When last we saw Turtle Tom he had met a new friend and was being introduced to all the fascinating creatures in the zoo. Turtle Tom was enjoying his trip through the zoo when he noticed an image on a door. It was a turtle! Alas, Turtle Tom was about to meet other turtles. However, Turtle Tom missed his opportunity and ended up in the back of a smelly garbage truck instead. Oh Turtle Tom! How do you get yourself into these predicaments? Turtle Tom's journey is not an easy one. It is hard for him to meet new friends and then have them gone in an instant. Nevertheless, Turtle Tom is determined to find his family. Tom winds up on the beach and begins a whole new journey. The creatures on the beach are very unusual. Who will Turtle Tom meet on the beach? Watch out Turtle Tom! Don't get too close to the water! The Turtle Tom Book Series is a wonderful story of a young turtle who strives to find the family he never knew. It is a story of challenges, fun, setbacks and excitement; but most importantly, of hope. His strength and determination proves to be a wonderful lesson for young and old alike. Throughout the book series, Turtle Tom journeys to and from some unknown origins for a little turtle. Along the way, he meets many friends and foes while getting himself into some unpredictable situations. Each story is uniquely written to flow from one book to another; yet, can also be read at any juncture in the series given the flashback intro which is provided at the beginning of each new adventure.

Myrtle the Turtle is a beautifully illustrated children's book that tells the charming story of a day in the life of a painted turtle. Children will want to learn more about the world of painted turtles once they've read her story. The photo and description of a real live painted turtle on the back cover of the book complement Myrtle's adventures. Myrtle the Turtle spends her days like any ordinary painted turtle in nature. She sleeps 'til dawn, grabs a bite to eat, swims a little, and visits with her friends, both in and out of her pond. She then spends the rest of the day lying on a log or rock in or near her pond. She quietly faces danger (her enemies) with calmness and quick thinking. Her natural instincts keep her safe. But one day some very strange animals show up at the pond, and Myrtle learns that being different is okay.
