Synopsis Telecommunication Electronics by : Dante Del Corso
This practical, hands-on resource describes functional units and circuits of telecommunication systems. The functions characterizing these systems, including RF amplifiers (both low noise and power amplifiers), signal sources, mixers and phase lock loops, are explored from an operational level viewpoint. And as all functions are migrating to digital implementations, this book describes functional units and circuits of telecommunication systems (with radio, wire, or optical links), from functional level viewpoint to the circuit details and examples. The structure of a radio transceiver is described and a view of all functional units, including migration to SDR (Software Defined Radio) is provided. Chapters include a functional identification of the units described and analysis of possible circuit solutions and analysis of error sources. The sequence reflects the actual design procedure: functional identification, search and analysis of solutions, and critical review to provide an understanding of the various solutions and tradeoffs, with guidelines for design and/or selection of proper functional units.

Synopsis Polymers in Telecommunication Devices by : G. H. Cross
This report discusses the use of the use of polymers instead of and in conjunction with, traditional platforms such as indium phosphide and ferroelectric ceramic lithium niobate. Critical comparisons are made between use of polymers and alternative. This review report gives an overview of all the elements of optical transmission and switching systems that are used in telecommunications and is a fully interdisciplinary account of materials and device design issues. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database gives useful references for further reading.

Synopsis Modern Electronics and Communication Engineering by : M.L. Anand
This is the book, in which the subject matter is dealt from elementary to the advance level in a unique manner. Three outstanding features can be claimed for the book viz. (i) style; the student, while going through the pages would feel as if he is attending a class room. (ii) language: that an average student can follow and (iii) approach: it takes the student from ''known to unknown'' and ''simple to complex.'' The book is reader friendly, thought provoking and stimulating. It helps in clearing cobwebs of the mind. The style is lucid and un-adulterated. Unnecessary mathematics has been avoided. Note: T&F does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Synopsis Guide to Telecommunications Technology by : Tamara Dean
Guide to Telecommunications Technology focuses on the technology that forms the basis for all voice and data networks. The book discusses fundamental signaling principles and explains how early telephone and computer inventions influenced modern technology. Chapters explore topics such as switching, datatransmission, broadband, wireless LANs, and network access methods. Techniques and tools involved in recognizing and addressing information security threats are also covered. The book concludes with a chapter on voice-over-network and convergence technologies, encouraging students to synthesize what they have learned about the traditionally separate fields of telephony and data technologies. Guide to Telecommunications Technology provides a solid foundation for more advanced studies in voice and data networking.

Synopsis Lightwave Technology by : Govind P. Agrawal
The state of the art of modern lightwave system design Recent advances in lightwave technology have led to an explosion ofhigh-speed global information systems throughout the world.Responding to the growth of this exciting new technology, LightwaveTechnology provides a comprehensive and up-to-date account of theunderlying theory, development, operation, and management of thesesystems from the perspective of both physics and engineering. The first independent volume of this two-volume set, Components andDevices, deals with the multitude of silica- andsemiconductor-based optical devices. This second volume,Telecommunication Systems, helps readers understand the design ofmodern lightwave systems, with an emphasis on wavelength-divisionmultiplexing (WDM) systems. * Two introductory chapters cover topics such as modulation formatsand multiplexing techniques used to create optical bitstreams * Chapters 3 to 5 consider degradation of optical signals throughloss, dispersion, and nonlinear impairment during transmission andits corresponding impact on system performance * Chapters 6 to 8 provide readers with strategies for managingdegradation induced by amplifier noise, fiber dispersion, andvarious nonlinear effects * Chapters 9 and 10 discuss the engineering issues involved in thedesign of WDM systems and optical networks Each chapter includes problems that enable readers to engage andtest their new knowledge to solve problems. A CD containingilluminating examples based on RSoft Design Group's award-winningOptSim optical communication system simulation software is includedwith the book to assist readers in understanding design issues. Finally, extensive, up-to-date references at the end of eachchapter enable students and researchers to gather more informationabout the most recent technology breakthroughs andapplications. With its extensive problem sets and straightforward writing style, this is an excellent textbook for upper-level undergraduate andgraduate students. Research scientists and engineers working inlightwave technology will use this text as a problem-solvingresource and a reference to additional research papers in thefield.
