In this volume 268 species of the Larentinae are covered. Many of the genera have caused serious problems in identification, but based on the larger number of specimens illustrated on the 25 colour plates, the species can now be identified much more easily. In additional black and white photos for species which are difficult to identify, differential characters are pointed out with arrows. As in the previously published volumes 1,2 and 4, maps with the European distribution are given with dots for verified specimens. There are photographs of male and female genitalia of all species and this volume also contains a systematic catalogue of the European species including those of the neighbouring regions of North Africa, Macaronesia, Turkey and the Middle East. This is the first volume including genetic information from DNA barcoding which proved to be a useful, additional tool in identification, taxonomy and species delimitation.

This is the first part of the World Catalogue of Insects of the superfamily Yponomeutoidea with the most current scientific classification, synonymies and misspellings. Primary type locations, status, depositories, reference citations, zoogeographic distributions, known host plants, explanatory notes and corrections are given. In addition, new primary types are designated, new synonymies and combinations are proposed.

The Gnorimoschemini (Gelechiidae: Gelechiinae) of Europe are reviewed in this volume. A total of 211 species is recognized, including two species not yet found in Europe and two others recently introduced. Descriptions and diagnoses are accompanied by colour figures of the adults (532 specimens are illustrated on 21 colour plates), usually depicting variation, and black and white photographs of male and female genitalia characters. Notes on distribution and bionomics are added for every species.

Taxonomy provides the basic building blocks of our understanding of the diversity of life on this planet. It stems from innate human curiosity; confronted with an unknown species or object we ask "what is it?" Taxonomists recognize species and other systematic unities (the taxa), define them and place them within the framework of known organisms, providing the means for their subsequent identification. The Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera (edited by I. & D. Löbl) gives a taxonomic overview of the most diverse group of all living things in the world's largest biogeographical area. It fixes nomenclature needed for unambiguous transfer of information, gives information about the occurrence of species and subspecies, and contains references that provide key information of over 40,000 systematic units. The work is a scaffold for biotic surveys, ecological studies, and nature conservation. It responds also to the urgent need of assessment of the still left forms of life, actually threatened by the on-going destruction of habitats. Contributors are: Robert B. Microlepidoptera of Europe: Depressariidae is the tenth volume in this series, providing descriptions and illustrations which will enable identification of all 192 species. For preparation more than 10000 specimens have been studied, including East Palearctic species. Barcodes were taken from nearly 3000 specimens. As a result, 28 species were described as new to science, 22 of these present in Europe. For the first time in a guide to species identification in a family of European Microlepidoptera traditional taxonomy based on morphology is backed up by molecular evidence. The last revision of the family which covered all Europe was published in 1910.
