From the preface This project was initiated in 1998 with the development of a surface diatomcalibration set for selected regions from the Arctic Islands.Under the study surface sediments, mosses,rock and otheravailable habitats were studied from 91 ponds and lakes.It became clear that the diatoms observed were new or undocumented.
