This volume completes the second edition series of Surgical Neuroangiography. It covers neurovascular diseases in neonates, infants, and children and details the clinical challenges involved in managing lesions of the brain, spinal cord, spine, and head and neck in the pediatric age group. Vascular malformations of the maxillofacial area have been. The specificities of the perinatal and infancy period are emphasized to illustrate the need for proper understanding of the characteristics of this age group and the inappropriateness of adult strategies extrapolated to children. All chapters have been substantially expanded.

Synopsis Surgical Neuroangiography by : Alejandro Berenstein

Based on the principles of functional vascular anatomy and endovascular treatment described in the first three volumes of Surgical Neuroangiography, Volumes 4 and 5 complete the series that takes a revolutionary approach in endovascular neurosurgery. The authors are world leaders, recipients of numerous prizes in medicine, and can offer the unique fruit of their combined anatomical, clinical and therapeutic experience to investigate and understand the disease process, its anatomical features and its relationship to patients' symptoms and treatment planning. Volume 4 is geared to track the vascular abnormalities of the brain; Volume 5 the vascular abnormalities of the spine and spinal cord. Both volumes identify the specifics of vascular lesions and set the interventional neuroradiological techniques before a background of proper clinical analysis and expertise. Each volume emphasizes the strategy and management objectives from an endovascular perspective taking into consideration a multidisciplinary approach where neurologists, neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists examine the clinical presentation, the diagnostic study and the therapeutic options in a joint decision-making process.

Synopsis Surgical Neuroangiography by : Pierre Lasjaunias

Embolization has been performed in many European countries and in North America for over 20 years and is now beginning to gain accep tance in other countries. At first, experience with these techniques was shared in the form of individual case reports; today some centers have treated enough patients to be able to transform this anecdotal material into more concrete data. For the last 10 of these 20 years, the two of us have been deeply involved, encouraged, and stimulated by the interest created by the few pioneers in endovascular techniques. In 1978, when we first met, our discussion on embolization could have been summarized as disagreement. It soon became obvious that these differences were primarily related to our different individual back grounds. One of us having a strong orientation toward anatomy, and the other toward technique. We realized that these apparently opposing approaches complement each other and decided to combine them to our mutual benefit. This collaboration has matured into the search for improvements in patient care and for the safest, most reliable, and most responsible manner of treatment.

Synopsis Comprehensive Management of Arteriovenous Malformations of the Brain and Spine by : Robert F. Spetzler

Vascular malformations of the brain and spine pose many management challenges. This text provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art review of the natural history, treatment options, and outcomes of patients with these conditions. Despite their relative rarity, these lesions are responsible for devastating injury to individuals and can cause an enduring physical, psychological, and economic burden on patients and families. Many new therapeutic options are now available with the advent of novel surgical, endovascular, and radiosurgical techniques. The basic sciences have fuelled development of small molecule and biologic therapies targeting the molecular basis of disease. Authored by international experts in the fields of neurosurgery, neurology, radiology, and radiation oncology, this book provides state-of-the-art treatment plans and discussions of ideal therapy. This text is aimed at practitioners in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation medicine and allied fields who care for patients with brain and spinal vascular malformations.

Synopsis 3D Angiographic Atlas of Neurovascular Anatomy and Pathology by : Neil M. Borden

The 3D Angiographic Atlas of Neurovascular Anatomy and Pathology is the first atlas to present neurovascular information and images based on catheter 3D rotational angiographic studies. The images in this book are the culmination of work done by Neil M. Borden over several years using one of the first 3D neurovascular angiographic suites in the United States. With the aid of this revolutionary technology, Dr Borden has performed numerous diagnostic neurovascular angiographic studies as well as endovascular neurosurgical procedures. The spectacular 3D images he obtained are extensively labeled and juxtaposed with conventional 2D angiograms for orientation and comparison. Anatomical color drawings and concise descriptions of the major intracranial vascular territories further enhance understanding of the complex cerebral vasculature.

Synopsis Surgical Neuroangiography by : Alejandro Berenstein

Surgical Neuroangiography: Clinical and Interventional Aspects in Adults covers a variety of protocols and strategies combining functional vascular anatomy with a complete appreciation of the various disease processes, their pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and natural history, as well as recent technological advances. The newer endovascular techniques that apply to embolization of aneurysms, vascular malformations, and tumors of the spine, spinal cord, brain, and maxillofacial areas are reviewed. Novel techniques of revascularization for occlusive vascular diseases in the brachiocephalic and cerebral vasculature are expanding and revolutionizing the field. Implementing optimally efficient and safe strategies for occlusion or revascularization of arterial or venous structures requires the knowledge of collateral circulation covered in this volume. Alejandro Berenstein, Pierre Lasjaunias, and Karel ter Brugge, pioneers in the field with over 20 years of experience, present the second volume of the second edition of Surgical Neuroangiography, combining volumes 2, 4 and 5 of the previous edition and adding a new section, "Occlusive Vascular Diseases." Comprehensive, practice-oriented work on vascular intervention in adults and children Written by the leading experts with many years' experience in research and teaching Richly illustrated overview of all treatment modalities

Synopsis Interventional Neuroradiology by : James V. Byrne

Interventional Neuroradiology describes a range of endovascular, percutaneous and imaging techniques used in the region of the brain, spine, and head and neck. These techniques have a growing number of diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The coverage starts with a look at the anatomy of the regions concerned, then moves on to describe the techniques and equipment used, before covering their application in a range of specific diseases, including stroke, aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, tumours and vascular malformations. The book closes with a section looking at other related aspects of patient care and service organisation. James Byrne has commissioned chapters from renowned international experts in this field. This is a concise and up-to-date book on interventional neuroradiology, and unlike other available texts, it covers both the theoretical background as well as the practical aspects of this exciting discipline.
