Synopsis Study of Limiting Factors and Methods of Optical Phase Conjugation by Stimulated Brillouin Scattering by : Igorʹ Yu Anikeev

A study of phase conjugation by stimulated Brillouin scattering is presented with emphasis on the limiting factors, such as aperture and polarization losses, spatial coherence and saturation of the incident wave on the quality of phase conjugation, as well as the application of stimulated Brillouin scattering to loop phase-cojugated mirror and intracavity-SBS-cell-phase-conjugated oscillator.

Synopsis Stimulated Brillouin Scattering by : M J Damzen

Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is the most important example of a stimulated scattering process-light scattering that occurs when the intensity of the light field itself affects the propagating medium. A phenomenon that has been known of for some 35 years in solid state laser research, it has recently become relevant in the optical fiber ind

Synopsis Experimental Study of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Open Cells and Multimode Optical Fibres by : Allan Chi-Lun Wong

An experimental study of the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) was carried out by performing optical phase conjugation in open cells and multimode optical fibres using a Q-switched, pulsed Nd:YAG laser. Experiments were done with test tubes that contained two SBS liquids - Fluorinert and Acetone, and multimode optical fibres. The three fundamental parameters of SBS: the threshhold energy, reflectivity and phase conjugate fidelity were characterised and analysed. In addition, the temporal behaviour of Stokes beam, phase correction, optical beakdown, and pulse compression were investigated. --p. vii.
