Synopsis Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems by : Leonard Barolli
This book presents scientific interactions between the three interwoven and challenging areas of research and development of future ICT-enabled applications: software, complex systems and intelligent systems. Software intensive systems heavily interact with other systems, sensors, actuators, and devices, as well as other software systems and users. More and more domains involve software intensive systems, e.g. automotive, telecommunication systems, embedded systems in general, industrial automation systems and business applications. Moreover, web services offer a new platform for enabling software intensive systems. Complex systems research focuses on understanding overall systems rather than their components. Such systems are characterized by the changing environments in which they act, and they evolve and adapt through internal and external dynamic interactions. The development of intelligent systems and agents features the use of ontologies, and their logical foundations provide a fruitful impulse for both software intensive systems and complex systems. Research in the field of intelligent systems, robotics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and cognitive sciences is a vital factor in the future development and innovation of software intensive and complex systems.

Synopsis Advanced Information Networking and Applications by : Leonard Barolli
Networks of today are going through a rapid evolution and there are many emerging areas of information networking and their applications. Heterogeneous networking supported by recent technological advances in low power wireless communications along with silicon integration of various functionalities such as sensing, communications, intelligence and actuations are emerging as a critically important disruptive computer class based on a new platform, networking structure and interface that enable novel, low cost and high volume applications. Several of such applications have been difficult to realize because of many interconnections problems. To fulfill their large range of applications different kinds of networks need to collaborate and wired and next generation wireless systems should be integrated in order to develop high performance computing solutions to problems arising from the complexities of these networks. This volume covers the theory, design and applications of computer networks, distributed computing and information systems. The aim of the volume “Advanced Information Networking and Applications” is to provide latest research findings, innovative research results, methods and development techniques from both theoretical and practical perspectives related to the emerging areas of information networking and applications.

Synopsis TRACKING STUDENT RECORD by : Abdulrahman Alghamdi
This project aims to produce a web-based system for staff and students. Staff are able to track their students' attendance. The system provides attendance reports about a specific lecture or module. If the staff is a mentor or a supervisor, he can view his students' attendance reports. Students are able to view their attendance status. The system provides summarized or detailed reports about students' attendance. This book describes the requirements, design, implementation and security of "Tracking Students' Attendance" system. The system sends warning emails to students who exceed a specific number of absences. It system provides a web-based interface for tracking attendance of each students. Usernames and passwords are required to login the system. The whole system has been tested. A significant proportion of the proposed requirements were met with a web application based on PHP scripting language and MySQL database. It was concluded that the project as a whole was a success.
