Synopsis Spirit Touched by : Matthew Simmons
Cassandra Willows is a human, but she's also something known as a conduit - supercharged with a unique ability that makes her something more. Cassandra has one foot in the spirit world, so talking to ghosts? Easy. Walking through walls? No problem. Teleportation? Well, she hasn't gotten that down quite yet. Cassy has spent her life in hiding from the government, afraid of being stuffed in a van in the middle of the night, and she thought she'd done a pretty good job of it. However, a host of new characters are going to insert themselves into her life and show her that she isn't as untouchable as she thought.

Synopsis Touching Spirit Bear by : Ben Mikaelsen
In his Nautilus Award-winning classic Touching Spirit Bear, author Ben Mikaelson delivers a powerful coming-of-age story of a boy who must overcome the effects that violence has had on his life. After severely injuring Peter Driscal in an empty parking lot, mischief-maker Cole Matthews is in major trouble. But instead of jail time, Cole is given another option: attend Circle Justice, an alternative program that sends juvenile offenders to a remote Alaskan Island to focus on changing their ways. Desperate to avoid prison, Cole fakes humility and agrees to go. While there, Cole is mauled by a mysterious white bear and left for dead. Thoughts of his abusive parents, helpless Peter, and his own anger cause him to examine his actions and seek redemption—from the spirit bear that attacked him, from his victims, and, most importantly, from himself. Ben Mikaelsen paints a vivid picture of a juvenile offender, examining the roots of his anger without absolving him of responsibility for his actions, and questioning a society in which angry people make victims of their peers and communities. Touching Spirit Bear is a poignant testimonial to the power of a pain that can destroy, or lead to healing. A strong choice for independent reading, sharing in the classroom, homeschooling, and book groups.

Synopsis Modern Spiritualism and Scottish Art by : Michelle Foot
This pioneering account of Modern Spiritualism in late 19th and early 20th-century Scotland is a compelling history of the international movement's cultural impact on Scottish art. From spirit-mediums creating séance art to mainstream artists of the Royal Scottish Academy, this exposition reveals for the first time the extent of Spiritualist interest in Scotland. With its interdisciplinary scope, Modern Spiritualism and Scottish Art combines cultural and art history to explore the ways in which Scottish art reflected Spiritualist beliefs at the turn of the 20th century. More than simply a history of the Spiritualist cause and its visual manifestations, this book also provides a detailed account of scepticism, psychical research, and occulture in modern Scotland, and the role that these aspects played in informing responses to Spiritualist ideology. Utilising extensive archival research, together with in-depth analyses of overlooked paintings, drawings and sculpture, Michelle Foot demonstrates the vital importance of Spiritualist art to the development of Spiritualism in Scotland during the 19th century. In doing so, the book highlights the contribution of Scottish visual artists alongside better-known Spiritualists such as Arthur Conan Doyle and Daniel Dunglas Home.

Synopsis The Last Sermon of Christ by : Michael E. Cannon Jr.
"Let not your hearts be troubled . . ." The opening words from John 14 frame the balance of this sermon to the disciples. Immediately following the Passover supper and the washing of their feet, our Lord preaches one last sermon to his faithful friends and disciples--a sermon full of longing, full of promise, full of hope, and full of disclosures about their future, the work of the Holy Spirit, and key verses supporting the doctrine of the Trinity. John 14-16 presents a fascinating farewell address from Jesus to his disciples. These chapters show us the heart of our Savior and his love for his disciples in a time of anxiety--not only their anxiety but his own, as he knows that the shadow of the cross has now grown dark across him and there is no place else for him to go. No ministry remains for him now except to these disciples, and then ultimately to the cross itself. Even as he, in his own humanity, was troubled in the prospect of his suffering, he turned to minister to the disciples in their time of trouble.

Synopsis God's Presence and Heaven In the Present by : Woong R Whang
This book is about the TRUTH, the WAY and the LIFE for all who are weary and heavily burdened needing rest. It tells the truth about who we are in Jesus Christ regardless of what we are. This new discovery of who we are brings new light on our past, present and future. We all seek the truth about who we are, the world, suffering and happiness. We all seek to find the best way to live our lives to the fullest. Regardless of what we are, we are all seekers of the same things. We think there are different ways and answers to what we seek because we are different. Jesus Christ says there is One Truth, One Way, One Life: Jesus Christ Himself. The Truth in Jesus Christ is we are dead in Christ, and Christ lives in us. The Way in Jesus Christ is for our souls to go in every breath to Jesus who dwells in us. The Life in Jesus Christ is to live as a new creation. Being a new creation is to experience a new mind, emotion, and body. Being a new creation is to have an undivided heart. Being a new creation is to live in the eternal time of God. To live in the eternal time of God is to be free from our past, present and future. To live in the eternal time of God is for our soul and our spirit to be in union with Christ; no longer confined to the body and to the visible things of this world. But it is to live in heaven where there is perfect rest, here and now. And we enjoy to the fullest this perfect rest as God's holy, blameless and righteous children in the present in the presence of God.
