Synopsis Potassic Igneous Rocks and Associated Gold-Copper Mineralization by : Daniel Müller

In recent years, there has been increasing interest from geoscientists in potassic ig neous rocks. Academic geoscientists have been interested in their petrogenesis and their potential value in defining the tectonic setting of the terranes into which they were intruded, and exploration geoscientists have become increasingly interested in the association of these rocks with major epithermal gold and porphyry gold-copper deposits. Despite this current interest, there is no comprehensive textbook that deals with these aspects of potassic igneous rocks. This book redresses this situation by elucidating the characteristic features of potassic (high-K) igneous rocks, erecting a hierarchical scheme that allows interpre tation of their tectonic setting using whole-rock geochemistry, and investigating their associations with a variety of gold and copper-gold deposits, worldwide. About two thirds of the book is based on a PhD thesis by Dr Daniel Muller which was produced at the Key Centre for Strategic Mineral Deposits within the Department of Geology and Geophysics at The University of Western Australia under the supervision of Professor David Groves, the late Dr Nick Rock, Professor Eugen Stumpf!, Dr Wayne Taylor, and Dr Brendon Griffin. The remainder of the book has been compiled from the literature using the collective experience of the two authors. The book is dedi cated to the memory of Dr Rock who initiated the research project but died before its completion.

Synopsis Bring Music Home by : Amber Mundinger

BRING MUSIC HOME aims to capture iconic music venues and the personalities behind them through a combined photography and film project. The resulting coffee table book and film archive, supported by a robust marketing campaign, will raise funds for these venues and the people and artists who sustain them. In the face of COVID-19, music venues across the country have been forced to shutter. At this unprecedented moment in music's history-a time when live performances ceased everywhere- we have the rare opportunity to document this collective experience.

Synopsis Crimes of the Powerful by : Dawn Rothe

As politicians and the media perpetuate the stereotype of the "common criminal," crimes committed by the powerful remain for the most part invisible, or are reframed as a "bad decision" or a "rare mistake." This is a topic that remains marginalized within the field of criminology and criminal justice, yet crimes of the powerful cause more harm, perpetuate more inequalities, and result in more victimization than street crimes. Crimes of the Powerful: An introduction is the first textbook to bring together and show the symbiotic relationships between the related fields of state crime, white-collar crime, corporate crime, financial crime, organized crime, and environmental crime. Dawn L. Rothe and David Kauzlarich introduce the many types of crimes, methodological issues associated with research, theoretical relevance, and issues surrounding regulations and social controls for crimes of the powerful. Themes covered include: media, culture, and the Hollywoodization of crimes of the powerful; theoretical understanding and the study of the crimes of the powerful; a typology of crimes of the powerful with examples and case studies; victims of the crimes of the powerful; the regulation and resistance of elite crime. An ideal introductory text for both undergraduate and postgraduate students taking modules on the crimes of the powerful, white-collar crime, state crime, and green criminology, this text includes chapter summaries, activities and discussion questions, and lists of additional resources including films, websites, and additional readings.

Synopsis Special Edition Using Mac OS X, V10.3 Panther by : Brad Miser

The Panther release of Mac OS X continues the development of the Macintosh operating system. Mac OS X has become the dominant OS on the Macintosh platform and is currently the default OS on all new Macintosh computers. Mac OS X is a complex and powerful operating system for which no documentation is provided by Apple outside of the Apple Help system, which contains very limited information. "Special Edition Using Mac OS X Panther" provides the in-depth, wide ranging coverage that enables Mac users to get the most out of the operating system and included tools. This book explains how to get the most out of the core OS, including the Finder, desktop, and system customization. The book also shows readers how to use OS X's Internet applications for email, Web surfing, and .mac for publishing content on the Net. One of the book's major strengths is the extensive coverage of iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD, and iMovie. QuickTime and QuickTime Pro are also covered. The book helps readers understand and configure the technologies to expand their systems.
